Review: Charged for services not authorized
Discovered an old bill from them... I was confused as to what it could be since they never had let us leave the place without our co-pay in hand. Contacted them and was told it was for "acne services."
My son was treated at this office for a plantar wart on his foot. On his last visit the Physicians Assistant looked at it and told him it was cleared up and would no longer require visits. As an aside the Physician's Assistant asked if he wanted some free samples for his acne. "Sure" he said, "why not?" We left the office being told being told no payment was required.
Apparently they deem that was the acne service we received and want a co-pay of almost $180. THIS SERVICE WAS NOT REQUESTED and we were told he received free samples, I explained the situation to the account clerk and asked for a copy of the bill for this so-called service and provided my fax number. She informed me she would look into it and send me a copy of the bill.
Today I received an envelope from Placer Dermatology and inside was a note.... and I quote "outstanding balance has been sent to collections. Contact International Recovery Systems." No bill copy, no return telephone call.
At no time were these services requested, nor authorized, by myself or my minor son. Clearly this office is padding their services assuming insurance will absorb it and their clients won't notice.
Desired Settlement: Provide statement stating error was made and credit the account for the improper charge. In addition, must provide International Recovery Systems with same information.

We stand behind the services that were performed that day and feel the complaint is unfounded. However, as a courtesy we have contacted international recovery systems and asked that Ms. [redacted]'s case be closed.
