Placentia Radiator Reviews (1)

Review: My Chrysler 300 was not working and I sent it to Placentia Radiator for repair. The owner, [redacted] stated that the fuel pump needed replacing and he would charge me $400 for parts and labor. He replaced the fuel pump and it still didn't work. Two days later he said it needed a new engine. He found an engine for $2,000 and with parts and labor it would be $3,400. So after a month of going back and forth, he agreed to put in the engine for $2,400 and payments of $100/month on the remaining. After putting in the engine, he also discovered that he had to replace the radiator and charged an additional $200. On March 10th, I gave [redacted], his assistant $2,400 cash and she signed the receipt agreeing to $100/month. I told her that I couldn't make the 1st payment until the the pay period on April 30th because I had to repay some of $2,400 first and she agreed. On April 30th, I paid $100. On May 10th, the car stopped on me exiting the freeway and later found there was very little oil. Since we had only had it back 2 months, it appears there wasn't any oil put in it when the engine was replaced. I had to have the car towed back to Placentia Radiator. [redacted] kept it for 2 weeks and everytime I asked him for a status he said "he didn't know".May 19th, [redacted] finally told me that the car had been towed back to where the engine was bought from for repair. May 21st, [redacted] called me again and told me that the car was back in their shop and was fine now. It just needed some oil. Then she told me that the City of Placentia is making [redacted] move so I can't pick up my car unless I pay the $1,100 balance completely from the engine repair. I told her I didn't have any money and the best I could do was half when I got paid on May 30th. I told her legally we have a contract and asked her if they are now reneging on our written agreement to accept payments. She repeated I couldn't pick up my car unless I pay them $1,100. So they are now holding my car for "ransom". [redacted] has threatened to file a mechanics lien.Desired Settlement: The car only ended up back in their possession because they were negligent and did not put any oil in my car before they returned it the first time and now using their error to strong arm me. I am requesting that they comply with the terms of the written agreement to accept the $100 monthly payments and release my car immediately.
