for the past several years I have filed my taxes with Jackson-Hewitt. This year 2020 I went to the South Logan Walmart where Jackson-Hewitt is located and filed my taxes. The fee was 299.95 which I thought was excessive. The tax preparer offered me a Walmart gift card in the amount of 100.00 which I accepted. She advised I would get it within 24 hrs via email which I didn't. I texted her and her reply was... and this is direct quote "you will receive gift card in 24 hrs. I had to resend gift cards because our system went down." I didn't receive the gift card and was wondering if this was a scam. I contacted main office in Layton UT and talked to a manager who hurriedly got me off the phone. He said he would call me back after he looked into the matter. He didn't even ask my name. To date, i've never heard back from anyone. I even contacted Corporate Office and haven't heard back. I believe this was a tactic to get me to file my taxes with Jackson-Hewitt because the agent could tell I wasn't happy with the fee of 299.99 as I only was to receive back 1000.00 from my refund. I would have went somewhere cheaper to get my taxes filed but was promised a gift card from walmart which I didn't receive.
