To Whom It May Concern,On 1/25/2018 at 5:52 a.m. Pifer's Service Center responded to a call from the Wood County Emergency dispatch center for an abandoned car. It was 2011 Chevy Cruze located near [redacted] Parkersburg, West Virginia. The dispatcher stated that the...
car was in the ditch with the rear end in the road. Wood County Sheriff Department was on scene. Pifer's recovered the vehicle, cleaned up the roadway, and transported the vehicle to our storage facility. This is standard practice when recovering abandoned vehicles. Charges for towing and impounding could have been avoided if the complainant would have stayed with the vehicle and called a towing company as explained to her in person. The West Virginia [redacted] has already contacted us on this matter. On non-consent tows and recoveries, we are regulated by the [redacted]. The representative from the [redacted] agreed according to state rates that we undercharged the customer between $20.00 to $40.00. The customer was charged the rates that are provided to us from the [redacted] and was not charged any storage fees. If you have any further questions please contact us.
