Been with them years and to transfer my service right next door they charging me a additional deposit $575.I have been with Pemc a few years(since February of 2011 currently and back in 2009). I am supposed to be moving this weekend right next door of my current house. And yes I have bee late bc the bill is due mid monthly and I get a check once a month so I have to pay when I get my check. I get 667 dollars per month because I receive disability I can't afford to pay my current bill to a zero balance and a additional $575. I could see if I was not requiring their services anymore but in order to continue having power I have to continue paying my bill. This is ridiculous. This is also the only company I know that requires you to pay a deposit every time you transfer or move your services. Desired SettlementTransfer my services without a deposit because I currently have a deposit on file and just add the bills together. Business Response Addendum to response by PEMC 8/6/14 **: [redacted]... She has been talking with our district office about her situation. She has a few choices to consider including going onto our Prepay program. We have not heard back from her today. PEMC will help her with the deposit but we need to know what option she prefers. Please keep this complaint [redacted] PEMCConsumer Response I don't understand how they would help me with a deposit. Before moving to my current location I have always been a customer of [redacted]. And because I was already a customer all I had to do was give them the address in which I was moving and it change right over. Had I know this is how Piedmont Electric was I would have never moved into a house in a PEMC servicing area. What I don't understand is I'm the same person in order to keep electricity I have to pay my past bill and the current when it comes. They already have a $400 credit. Yes I have been late but I get a check monthly so I have pay when I can and if I can't I do obtain assistance from social services. People always complain about others getting assistance from the government but when you on a fixed income and any company that's a necessity ask you for $575 what else can you do. And before you pass [redacted] and think something about a job again I'm on disability.Business Response Piedmont EMC granted [redacted]' request to move to her new location without an additional deposit. This was done on or about August 8th. Apologies for the late response. Pope PEMC
