We purchased our 2000 Boston Whaler Dauntless on consignment from Pharo in 2005 and continued to have it serviced at Pharo through mid 2014. At the start of the 2014 boating season, the engine failed to throttle up to full power. I gave Pharo three opportunities to problem solve the issue--pulling the boat each time and delivering it to their shop. On the second return, I paid to have a lake test. They reported the issue solved, but when I brought the boat home and attempted to power up, the same trouble persisted. Their service department work appears to rely more on customers suggesting what the issue is as opposed to technician skill in diagnosing issues. I subsequently had the engine checked at Skipper Buds. They diagnosed old spark plugs and a worn belt tensioner. The issue was solved in one visit, though my summer of boating was lost due to back and forth trips giving Pharo repeated opportunities to solve the issue. I would prefer to support a locally owned business like Pharo, but their service skills don't meet the grade.
