I took my car in for an oil change on January 14th. Took it about a quarter of a mile home and had no issues. By the next morning, I took the car out and maybe went 9 miles before the car started making noise and the oil light came on. They picked it up for me and I reached out to them and picked it up that evening. The next morning, I took it on the road again (I noticed a lot of oil in the driveway) and on my way to work, I was on the highway driving at 65 mph and heard it started making noise again. At this point I just turned around and brought it back to the business and they told me they would find me an engine to replace mine. He did mention that he talked with his insurance adjuster but didn't want to file with them because it would raise their premiums. My car is currently in the shop. It's been there for the last 3 weeks. I called to check with the Secretary of State to see how legitimate the business is and they aren't even registered. So now I'm concerned with the whole situation. I just want $4,000 for the car as I don't feel comfortable driving on an engine that I don't know. I was willing to negotiate with him on this issue but he just keeps saying he is going to make it right and budge.
I called the Secretary of State and they didn't have a record of their store. I stated they were not licensed in my complaint and we were able to find that they are. The license is just listed in another name.
In regards to the complaint that was filed. We have since fix and returned the vehicle to the owner. When we brought her vehicle in to replace the motor, the owner stated she had another vehicle she could drive so there was no rush. We contacted our insurance company *** and they instructed us the vehicle was not worth filing a claim on due to the year and mileage on the vehicle. They instructed us to just replace the motor and we were not obligated to buy her vehicle back at the ridiculous amount she stated she wanted. Once we received the motor, we replaced it in a timely manner and returned her vehicle, road ready with half the mileage it came in our shop with. We are registered with the secretary of state and I have included a copy of that document.
