Visited Grand Prairie location 2 weeks ago, since it's closer to home and had appointment availability sooner than Ft Worth location (which is wonderful). Doctor was hesitant to approach my dog, clearly afraid of him. Vet tech was in my dog's face, checking his teeth, petting and handling my dog with no problem. Dog had a few problems. I suggested fluids since my dog was "dry", vet said he needed IV because a dog his size (70 lbs) didn't really benefit from sub-Q fluids. I agreed to pay $100 more for IV fluids. Was told at end of day that (1st story) they didn't have IV tubing long enough to reach bottom cage (where big dogs are held) and (2nd story) my dog "wouldn't cooperate" with IV. When asked about the "cooperation" issue, I was told he wouldn't stay lying down and so the IV kept coming out. There was no bandage on my dog...indicating no evidence of an IV ever being attempted). In the end, he was given the sub-Q fluids I was told wouldn't help him and charged for something that I was already told would not help him. I suggested fecal testing since my dog was having appetite / bathroom issues, trying to get ahead of a potentially worse problem. Was told it was not necessary. Two day after doc visit, dog started with waterfall bowel movements. I called and was given a not our problem answer by receptionist. I spoke with manager, who listened and was apologetic and agreed to see my dog right away. Manager apparently working on / with staff training. I took dog back in to see another doctor (thankfully). Got some meds, and a fecal test done. Was charged only for meds. 8 days after fecal test, I still hadn't heard from Penny Paws. Receptionist refused to give an estimate of how long it typically takes for results (I asked 4 times). I suggested someone follow up with lab, she said she would and never called back. When I called back, same receptionist said doctor had my message and would call me. Nothing. I called back today, to be told by vet tech that in last 2 weeks (convenient timing), lab lost 2 fecal samples and would contact lab to see about my dog's sample / results. I told her I'd be happy to hear back from her about my dog's fecal test, and expect a refund for test charges if I'm not presented with results. Vet tech also asked if I'd be willing to return to provide another sample, at no charge. What does that mean?! As if I'd be charged AGAIN?! I told her I'd be waiting for her call (vet tech), and for a call from the manager as this is ALL unacceptable. Meanwhile, I'm taking my still sick baby to another vet. I have never been to a more incompetent, unprofessional animal clinic in all of my life - and I've had dogs all of my life. Had to leave a star rating. Real rating would be negative.
