Turns out the shop doesn't have transmission diagnostic equipment and are making repairs based on guess work. I had my Dodge Grand Caravan transmission repaired there, first time lasted approximately five months, the second 24 hours. Pat said to my face and I quote "forgot to to tell my techs to tell me not to drive out of the valley because he found brass shavings in the transmission oil" when the transmission was serviced and I found this out when I came in on the following Monday after driving to Snowmass during which it developed serious issues. I'm an Uber driver and make trips to Aspen and other long distance trips. What I'd like to know is if there was brass shavings present, why did he replace the transmission fluid and filter and seal it up? Because he knew it would fail and I'd be back to spend more money to fix it. I was so angry when I heard him say that I was left speechless. After a period of time deciding what to do I sent a letter registered return receipt and asked for a $2000. refund for all transmission work done with no reply ever received. I got a second opinion diagnostic done at Dodge across the street and they confirmed the brass shavings and recommend complete replacement of the transmission and transfer case to the tune of $6000. For now the car sits in the backyard , not driveable.

PDF Automotive does have the most state of the art diagnostic equipment available. We subscribe to the same diagnostic trouble shooting information as the dealer(Dodge Dealer Connect Diagnostics). Customer brought her 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan in for transmission shift issues 7/11/2018. Transmission was serviced and the transmission solenoid pack was replaced with dealer parts. There were no brass or silver filings in the unit at that time.Customer returned 2/5/2019 with transmission issues again. Codes set were low line pressure. Without pulling the pan first, line pressure transducer was replaced. Then my tech serviced the transmission finding silver (aluminum) and brass in the pan. Remember that on 7/11/2018 there was no contamination in the pan. Unfortunately the vehicle was returned before I had the opportunity to speak to the customer. I had informed her the following Monday, what we found and that the transmission was failing. The repair done 2/5/2019 also included replacement of the oil filter cooler adapter under the intake manifold. Parts/Labor and tax in the amount of $824.03 which was not part of the transmission repair done on this date. Actual Transmission repair 2/5/2019 Consisted of: Line pressure transducer $67.95 Filter kit $32.94 6 qts Mopar +4 fluid $43.50Labor X3 hrs. @$95.00 $285.00Shop supplies $22.80Tax $13.39Total $465.58We made the transmission repair to see if the pressure transducer would increase the line pressure so the transmission would shift without flaring into gear or not shifting at all, hoping that customer would get more life out of the unit. Short of transmission removal and disassembly, no one, not even the dealer would know for sure the extent of the damage.ATRA (American Transmission Rebuilders of America) recommend servicing commercial vehicle transmissions every 20,000 miles.PDF Automotive is willing to reimburse the last repair of servicing the transmission and replacement of the line pressure transducer for the sum of $465.58.ThanksPatPDF Automotive Inc.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:I will accept no less than $1000.to settle this issue. His cavalier response to me regarding the metallic shavings in the oil was beyond belief and the idea that it was closed up and still in the transmission when I paid for it is mind boggling. And I quote" My bad, I forgot to tell the techs to tell you not to take it out of Valley." Really he forgot!!??

Regards,

The reason transmissions are serviced with filter replacement is to remove friction material and foreign matter. That being said, no material was left in this particular transmission. It's the lack of friction material in the clutch pack, 1st, 2nd, third, fourth gears etc. That causes slippage and internal wear. Clean fluid and filter help keep transmissions healthy.I will restate this vehicle was released before I had the opportunity to speak to the customer. I'm sorry that this occurred. Therefore I am willing to reimburse the transmission repair done at PDF Auto in total to the tune of 465.58. This is how much the customer was charged. ThanksPatPDF Automotive Repair Inc.
