My computer froze with a warning to call a number to unlock my computer. I was charged for ineffective service, and later falsely promised a refund.
On July 8th, 2018 my computer froze. A window opened which stated that, to unlock my PC, I must call tech support. I called and was directed to a service called AnyDesk, which allowed a company called PC Support Plaza (also dba Protect PC) to control my PC, unlock it, and was charged $899.99 via check for protective services and faster browser speeds.
Despite what was promised, in the following weeks I noticed no difference in the speed or performance of my PC. When I requested a refund I was told there would be 2 deposits made to my account; $400 and $500. The 2 deposits ended up being WAY off from the stated amount ($400 and $4000), and I was told that, to rectify this, to go to Walgreen's, buy Amazon gift cards, and read the card numbers over the phone. When I refused, the erroneous deposits disappeared like magic. When I called back later to try to get my refund in an ethical manner, the customer service rep was quite belligerent and annoyed that I was not playing his game, and used his AnyDesk account to begin deleting private files from my PC, obviously without my consent. I immediately hung up and began recording his with my smartphone, and uploaded video of this to YouTube. After shutting off my PC for a few minutes (the only way to stop his nonsense), I uninstalled AnyDesk and all associated programs from my PC.
In May 2020, I received a voicemail from a heavily-accented foreign national who identified himself with the alias of Jack Wilson (quite possibly the same individual I had spoken with in 2018), promising a refund by dialing 1-650-284-5546, extension 102. He told me to download AnyDesk (so he could access my PC again). I refused, stating that refunds are not issued that way. He persisted that company policy states otherwise. Having received refunds before, I know better than that, and "Jack" refuses to put me through to his manager (conveniently claiming he IS the manager) or to refund my $900 in a proper manner. He also maintains his belligerence and demonstrates an appalling lack of customer service skills, further delegitimizing his company.
Full refund of $900 to my account, which they can but refuse to do, or full refund of $900 sent via check.
A year ago they froze my computer and paid to get back. Now they are threatening to take $7,000 from checking acct as they have this info.
on 6/17/2018, my computer froze. Rapid technicians sent a message on my computer that for $ they can help recover the files. I had to send a picture of my check for $299.99 and they release my files. Now I am getting calls every other day saying that as per my contract, I owe them $7,000 and they are going to take from my checking account. So far they have not, but they have my account information. I alerted the bank but they are criminals and I never signed a contract.
I just want to lodge the complaint as they have a terrible reputation and i did not know this when they hijacked my computer.
Stated they were Microsoft support and then billed me for my "protection plan" addl service. Keep calling billing asking to access
This company committed fraud in the enducement by stating they were microsoft. I did have a protection plan but not this company. They somehow froze my computer with a warning and then called my home phone. It should have been a red flag but they convinced me the weren't support plan. Then after "fixing" my laptop he said I owed them money. I was upset and said I pay for a support plan, who are you? He answered the contractor for Microsoft. Since then they call multiple times a day and ask for money and to access my computer. It is harassment. Now they say it will "auto renew" from my bank account. I have no contract with them to be renewing payments.
They charged me $299.00
Shady practices from this company
In March of 2018, my computer froze up and a number came on it saying they are the only ones who could fix it. So $1048 dollars later paid by check, low and behold my computer was working fine. Now 1 year and and a half later they are calling to refund my money, because they are closing down. I was left a message by Jack W who has a very strong accent,to call XXXXXXXXXX with an extension that was not understandable. Of course there is no answer.
A refund by certified check would be nice, but I won't count on it. STOP THEM FROM RIPPING PEOPLE OFF!!!
This company is untruthful about there practices
The company commited a fraudulent attempt to infect my computer the charged me to fix it. They were then very unhelpful in canceling the useless service. After I thought all was over they started calling again to issue me a refund. I told them not to bother me anymore but they continue to call and harass me. I mentioned I would turn them into the Revdex.com and contact a lawyer andthey become more aggressive. They want me to allow access to my computer but I refused. They rendered my computer useless and they are not getting into my equipment. They have been threatening and persistant. I am tired of the calls from this company. They insiston accessing my checking account and I told them to deposit thw refund to the same account they drafted but they keep insisting on getting on my computer and doing it. That is not how refunds work. I know it is a scam and they continue anyway.
I am willing to have a certified check for the refund amount mailed to me but they cannot have access to my banking account.

Tech Support Scam
A few months ago, my computer froze and the warning was to call a number, I called and agreed to a year subscription for $200. A month ago, I got a call from a guy saying I had a refund and I hung up. On Saturday, I started getting calls from so I called back. His name was Jack from PS Support Plaza. His company had been bought out. I said no. He asked for my bank info, I said no, He said the only way he could issue the $210 would be for me to set up a paypal account to issue the credit. I said ok. He set up a Paypal account. He called me and asked where I wanted I got a message on my screen saying my refund of $2100 was processed. He became belligerent saying I needed to put my glasses on. THen he said I owed them $1800. I said no, cancel the transaction. He said he couldn't' it was on hold on his server. He told me the only way to get the $210 was to pay them back $1800. He threatened to come to my house and take my appliances and computers. I told him I would call my bank. He said don't do that. I said I will call the sheriff. He said don't do that. He said I owed him $1800 and it has to be done now because your computer is locked. So I went to Krogers and purchased 4 Google Play cards, 3 for $500 and 1 for $300. He said he would give me $90 for the inconvenience of getting cards. Then I gave him the security numbers off the cards. He said the security numbers were wrong, and he was belligerent, so I bought the second set of cards. I scratched off the numbers and gave them to him. He said the cards had not been activated, and to buy a 3rd set of cards. He said he was not going to lose his job over this. I went back into *** and *** called Google Play, and Google Play said the cards had been redeemed through an email account. I called him and told him the cards had been redeemed, and I wouldn't buy any more cards. I went to the sheriff's dept to file a complaint. The sheriff said because I gave Krogers my pin number, it isn't fraud. Google confirmed all 8 cards have been redeemed. I've filed a complaint w/the attorney general. I'm going to file a complaint with FTC. My bank closed my debit card. The caller had an accent. He said his name was *** I asked to speak to his manager. He said he transferred me, but the second man sounded exactly like the first. My husband heard my end of the calls.
$3600
Purchased computer protection/security technical services from Rapid Technicians. Company cannot be contacted, no phone numbers working.
Several charges were required and paid to this company in the amounts of $699.00 under ***/lifetime security and technical support (payment gateway - PCS Support). Second charge of $1789.00 paid for lifetime 9 level firewall protection and unlimited technical support.
Some or all recovery of expenses as this appears to be a fraudulent company or least information and help on how to proceed.
Charged $799.99 to clear computer of alleged viruses. They cannot be contacted. Bad numbers given for contact.
I was contacted and told that I had several viruses on my computer and that they were the only people that could help me. I told them I had spyware and they said that they work with this company and $799.99 is needed to get my computer running properly. They asked for info off of my check and they deducted he money and then cleared up my computer. Turns out that I didn't have any viruses at all. I had been scammed per spyware.
$799.99 and I would like their license revoked and others to be made aware of what has happened so it does not happen to them. I am a senior citizen with little computer experience. I had no idea that I was being scammed and I am on a fixed income. This company should be shut down if they really exist.
On 9/25/18 As I was working on my computer, my screen it froze, prompted me that I was attacked by a virus and stated that if I do not call the number on the screen to get it fixed, they will report my IP address and I will be in enormous trouble. Very frightened, I called the number on the screen and the company PC Support Plaza came on and proceeded to fix my computer remotely and asked me to pay them $1799.99 for their service and protection package. With no hesitation, I gave them a credit card, but then they insisted that I give them a check. With no hesitation, I did so as well. Because I am not a computer Tech, I did not question much to why just as long as my computer was fixed. Once they said all is fixed, I assume that everything was okay. During the next few days my computer run a slower, but I did not question. Then on the afternoon of 9/29/18 a virus attacked my computer again, it froze my computer, prompted me to call a number, then it zap out my entire system. I tried to push the on button but it was impossible. It is so frustrating to know that I had confidential information and it *** have been stolen and that the virus was never fixed in the first place. Then it made me wonder why my computer was running slower than usual for the past few days. During this time, I was needed in the Hospital, due to it being my turn to care for my mom. I knew that there was nothing much I can do at this point so I immediately emailed the Computer Company with my information and what has happened. I have asked them how this could happen and to contact me right away either by email or by phone. I never received any response from them. Once I got back home from the Hospital on Monday 10/1/18 @6:30am PST. I immediately called them, spoke to Kim and explain to her the situation, of how a virus wipe out my computer and I cannot even turn it on. I expressed how there contract states if the problem is the fixed and reoccurred within 7 day I am allowed to my full refund.
Product_Or_Service: Serviced my computer
Order_Number:
Refund All I wanted to receive was my full refund within the time frame that Kim has promised me $1799.99 within 10-15 days because the services they provided did not help and instead cause my computer to be inoperable. It is now 10/22/18 and still I have not received my refund back. It is bad business practices to promise a consumer and then never do what was promised. Now my computer is inoperable, the problem was not fixed.
