Company is a joke. They wasted 10 DAYS processing the loan then they say they can't confirm my income even AFTER I gave them a bank statement SHOWING my deposits for the month! It was right there in black and white!
So I called them and tried telling them they made an error and they simply said that the decision was made and nothing can be done.
I think its a bunch of BS making someone jump through hoops and have them provide everything they asked for only to basically say a lie. It simply wasn't true. I had shown in black and white my income. But they didn't care. So I'm DONE with them! The ONLY reason they stated simply wasn't true. Beats the hell out of me how they are still in business and if THAT is an example of how they do business I certainly don't want to enter into any long term business relationship with these people!
Shady practices with no explanation for their business processes. I called there today to request a payoff at beginning of business hours and was told that I would have to wait until Monday for the letter. So I tried to payoff the current principal balance shown online and the site rejected the payment. So I then called the company, spoke to Albert M. who gave me the run-around. He put me hold for a long time, kept on clicking in and out to see if I was holding without saying anything and then after about 15 minutes told me that a supervisor would be with me soon. 5 minutes later, he said the supervisors were in a meeting and would call back in an hour. I tried to submit the payment to the customer representative who told me he would submit a request to accept the payment. At that time, the representative was made aware that I didn't want a request to be placed and instead wanted the payment to be accepted. At that point, in a professional manner, he made it clear that he didn't care about what I thought or wanted and to "have a nice day." The representative said the company was owned by Happy Money. I would think twice before using this company and advise others to seek alternatives. I would be very weary about the positive feedbacks this company previously received since their is no confirmation that they are actual consumers and not a paid third party or other employees.
TERRIBLE! I spoke to various persons each time and I felt so insecure about giving my information each and every time. I was told that I had a TAX LIEN for five thousand dollars and that TransUnion gave them that information. LIES. I called TransUnion immediately and was told I did not have this lien! The persons I spoke to didn't know what to say! I withdrew from the application and cancelled my accounts immediately since I had linked my bank acount and also set alerts. Thanks for theft identity. I have a clean record and clean credit report. Last, I called to withdraw and unlink my bank account and suddenly, I no longer had access to the online account for the application process. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. BEWARE. FRAUD!!!!!
Amazing experience! Was approved less than an hour! Uploaded information requested and find was in my bank within 3 days! Love that I’m able to make extra payments
On the positive side, Payoff is good for people who are struggling to get a loan, and the whole process, from applying for the loan to ACH deposit of loan funds, was very smooth. However, there is much room from improvement with the early payoff of your loan. Yes, there are no fees involved, which is great. However, you are going to pay extra money in interest simply because you have to wait for someone to get back to you with your pay off amount. You can't pay off early through the website. You have to contact customer support. At which point you are told that they are going to get back to you with your exact pay off amount, which will include your daily interest up to the date that you intend to pay off your loan. In my case, I wanted to pay off my loan that same day. Yet, it actually took 5 business days, and when I finally got the amount, it was dated back to when I made the initial request! Every day that I had to wait, I was the interest was adding up! I ended up having to pay off over 100 dollars more than if they would have just let me pay off my loan the same day I made the request.
Payoff sends phishing snail mail to capture email addresses and other personal information. This is disguised as debt consolidation and they claim you are pre-approved even though they have no intention on offering you a loan. All they seem to be doing is just collecting information.

I was on Instagram and got an add for Payoff to help payoff credit card debt. I have applied with other lenders and weren't getting approved, because of my high credit card debt. Which was ironic because that's what I trying to get approved for was to pay off my high credit card debt. I noticed Payoff allowed you to apply with just a soft credit check, so I could see if I qualified with out hurting my credit. After a few questions and application information, just like that I was pre-approved! I was almost skeptical because of how fast it was and I was so used to getting declined at this state with other lenders. They gave me a couple options and I ended up going with a loan offer that was higher than I requested to help pay so other bills other than just my credit cards. Within 2 days I got a call from payoff requesting verification documents, I uploaded what they were requesting and with a week the money with deposited into my account! Couldn't be more thankful for payoff, now I can payoff my credit card debt with one low payment.
Was "Preapproved" for a loan with Payoff. Went thru numerous document requests and provided everything that was asked. Then was "approved" and signed a contract, and was told that funding would be imminent. Later on received an email that I was not approved for the loan. The reason stated was "1. Your credit report shows you've had a inquiry for an unsecured installment loan recently."
The inquiry they are referencing is for Paypal... Tried to talk to someone at their help line and was given a boiler plate answer about how its an "internal process" i.e. not mentioned anywhere on their website that I could find OR on the loan agreement I EXECUTED with them, that my inquiries must be clean for a year of any loans (or to what I am assuming they think is a loan since the inquiry is from Paypal)
So wasted a week of my life going back and forth (because they are EXTREMELLY SLOW at responses) and signed an actual loan agreement, took a hit on my credit for an inquiry and couldn't talk to a human that understand that I don't have a loan on my credit since the inquiry was obviously more than 60 days ago and not for a personal loan....
"Internal Practices" should be clearly listed and a human with some sense should be able to override a mistake on their system...

The process was extremely easy, a little bit of information gets you a personalized rate (without hurting your credit score). Pick your loan, send in some documents to prove what you just said, and bam! The loan is funded (currently at this step as of this review).
I never felt that my information was being used incorrectly, or ever questioned providing it, although PayOff is not a bank- they work with trusted banks/credit unions to fund your loans and the information is required (by law even) in order to open an account and collect funds.
So far, I am completely satisfied and cannot wait to see where this goes!
thank you so much for the kind words and invaluable feedback! We're delighted that we were able to help, and look forward to continuing to work together. We're excited to see you reach your goals!
I opened an account with Payoff to process debt consolidation on multiple credit cards account. I was given multiple quotes, and went with one quote of an amount ranign $450 a month. After signing paperwork, I was given notification that all my information was processed and I should receive funds within a 2 business days. I received the funds but kept them in my account because I was awaiting final paperwork on the Payoff website. It didn't show up until 4 days laters after I received the " congratulations ". It gave me a breakdown of my payement being $537 and around $380 of it going to principal and the rest to interest. THAT IS NOT WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR. I called HQ about this issues and the rep apologetically stated they cant do anything since it has passed the 5 day mark and the only was to close the account would be to pay back the amount in full plus fee's. This is ridiculous! They make you wait 4-5 days for the correct information to load on the website and in that same time frame your " cancellation " date expires. I ended up paying in full the whole loan but paying $760 EXTRA than I was received. This company is a SCAM!! And I wont recommend to anyone. I will also be proactively posting on ALL social media platforms to not use this ridiculous service. I want my $760 back from this LOAN SHARK

I recently applied for a loan and got approved. I haven't got the loan to my bank account yet; they say, it will take 3-7 days. So far everything is smooth; I have to be honest - no bad experience. There are of course number of points where you get suspicious (automatic payment from your bank account, ssn, date of birth, full legal name etc., but I'll wait and see how things will go...
I'll be back with more comments later when I'll get the loan and making payments.
Terrible customer service. I recently changed my bank account information in order to pay directly online. The rep that helped me said I needed to submit a document with the acct #, routing #, and my name on it and that he would process it as soon as possible because it take 1-2 days to reflect online. I did that, and as soon as the information was updated online I made the payment. When I checked my bank account after the weekend the funds for the payment were still there so I went to my payoff account to see what was going on. My bill was marked as "past due" even though I made the payment days prior to the due date. I started a chat with a rep that took my info to look up my account. He couldn't figure out what was wrong so I was transferred to another rep. This second rep was extremely rude and unprofessional and took every opportunity to blame me for the payment not posting, saying "oh the payment was returned, oh the info wasn't updated on the site so it didn't go through." How could that be when I selected the updated account for payment? I then asked why I wasn't notified and he said "we called you but your mailbox was full." Okay? What ever happened to email? Or at least an apology for the trouble? I've never spoken to someone so rude before, and that's saying a lot considering I deal with government employees daily. He asked if I wanted to attempt payment again, obviously I did. He, however, never reattempted the payment and I had to do it myself the next day.
Horrible unprofessional company. Do not submit your information to this company. Since I have submitted my application on February 9th, I have not received proper communication nor have I received clear communication. On February 11th, my documents were rejected but in order for me to submit the new documents, I had to log on only to realize my documents were not approved. I didn’t receive a phone call, nor did I receive an email. It is now February 20th and I still don’t know the status of my application but this time I was told by two of your representatives two separate things about my application status. When I contacted April on the chat regarding my application, she stated, the verification team had tried to reached me but was unable to. Keep in mind. No one has contacted me today and I would know because I was teleworking all day with my phone near. Also, No one has emailed me. She also stated the verification team had questions but when I talked to Amber, she stated this wasn’t true the team didn’t have questions and of course the generic response, If they have questions they will reach out. When I asked April about this as I was in the chat at the same time, she gave a lack luster response saying you should email the company via email. In no way would I ever continue my application with a company who lacks professionalism, courtesy and the proper standards when it comes to dealing with a persons PII. I will be reporting this company to the Revdex.com and consumer protection bureau for their lack of concern and deceptive business and loan practices. And I will not recommend your company to anyone. After two weeks they sent me an email telling me they could not verify my identity. That was a lie. I initially submitted my Military ID and they rejected. Because I am active duty military, this is grounds for me having a Virginia license with a Maryland address. Instead of them reaching out to ask questions they continued to string me along and at the end lie and say the could not verify my identity. I am filing a formal complaint with the CFPB because this company has unverified reviews from employees and deceptive lending practices. Not to mention, they had my passport. Do you know what kind of verification process you go through to get a passport. They never did a formal credit check to issue me the loan. This company keep a fraud and they are in receipt of my personal information and others to use to solicit to third parties. If you look at the reviews in credit karma and Revdex.com, they are he EXACT same.

I filed an application with this company and was pre-approved. I submitted the documents requested and then received a request for additional documentation a week later. This happened twice after that with an almost week waiting period, until I was finally told my application had expired and they reported a decline to the credit bureaus. They never even finished processing the documents to determine a decline. If the negative information is not removed from my credit report then I will be filing a case against them to have it removed and while being told I could re-apply, it is ridiculous to think that I would after this experience. Do not expect fast response times from consumers if you cannot get your own affairs in order. This type of practice will drive your business under. I subsequently applied for a small loan to do the same thing through my bank this morning and was approved, funded and done in an hour. I should have done that to begin with. I would caution anyone seeking to do business with Payoff.

I received the advertisement for Payoff in the mail and I was very happy as I have a credit card account owing 5,100 at 24.9% APR. When I make a payment this company keeps almost half of my payment in interest. It will take forever to pay them off. So, I wanted to use Payoff to pay off my debt to them at a lower APR. Well, reading the terms page of the advertisement I discover that they do not directly pay off my high-interest credit company but instead want to drop the cash they will loan me directly into my bank account. I was very uneasy about giving out my bank information to someone and felt I needed to check into this further. I then find out that I can't even find out what APR they will allow me to pay back with unless I give them a bunch of information about myself. Then I discover there is an Origination Fee/closing fee and a maintenance fee. AND pre-approval means exactly that; the approval is not yet determined. Pre means "before" approval. I went on to read the customer reviews and that was the clincher. I am not using these people.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a review of Payoff. Our pre-approval letter which you received in the mail is the first step to potentially obtaining a Payoff Loan and you received the letter because you met our initial criteria based on limited information in your credit report. Once you express interest in obtaining a Payoff Loan, we gather and consider additional information in our credit decision that we cannot obtain or verify through your credit report, such as your income information. During this review, if we determine you are unable to meet our full criteria, we are not able to approve your application. We always seek to be transparent with our customers regarding the terms and conditions of a Payoff loan and encourage customers to visit our FAQ page (https://www.payoff.com/loan/questions/) before applying, and to contact us with any questions.

I was pre-approved for a loan. Submitted EVERY personal document they asked for with hesitation since it is all of my identity information. They assured me it was safe. Including, my drivers license, a copy of my social security card. 2 utility bills,a cancelled blank check, paystubs as well as all of the other information they asked. After running my credit report, they told me I was denied for the loan based on that they could not verify my identity. WHAT?! I sent my whole life! They will not give any more information or offer any alternative way to verify my identity. Now they have my entire personal identity and refuse to work with me.

Absolute waste of time. Don't even bother applying unless you have perfect credit. I received pre approval and spoke with many reps and I was ultimately not approved after wasting several hours because my credit utilization was too high. The sole reason I was applying for this loan was because my credit utilization was too high and they knew that before I even started the loan process. Save yourself your time and giving them all your information. It's ABSOLUTELY not worth it.

they sent me a letter offering a loan to pay off credit cards. The letter said I was pre-approved. I went to the website, put in the code and my verifying information, and it said they wouldn't approve me. Total BS to say i'm pre-approved then not approve me. Thanks for wasting my time.

This is one of those reviews if I could leave no stars I would. Pay off inc received the full payment of my outstanding balance plus additional funds as it was paid by a title company.
The overpayment was close to $3,000 and to this date they have not refunded it to me despite repeated statements from the comapany that they have returned the overpayment. For 3 weeks I have heard repeatedly that the refund was going out in a day or two despite this they have not returned anything. I have worked with other personal lending companies and I I have never had an experience like this. They are many personal lending companies to choose from and I would avoid Payoff Inc at all cost.

We take your concerns seriously and appreciate the opportunity to respond fully to them. We have investigated the matters raised in your review and are pleased to confirm that the referenced funds have been returned to you. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
Liars. They send you pre approved notices then deny you after you go through their application process. Never use them.

We understand that your concern arose because your loan application was declined. We also understand that you received a letter in the mail indicating you were pre-approved for a Payoff loan. In that regard, please refer to the language contained in the pre-approval letter, where we indicate that the pre-screened offer is based on information obtained from your credit report, however, the offer is not guaranteed if the applicant does not meet the applicable criteria. For your reference, the language indicates as follows:
This “prescreened” offer of credit is based on information in your credit report indicating that you meet certain criteria. This offer is not guaranteed if you do not meet our criteria. If you do not want to receive prescreened offers of credit from Payoff and other companies, call the consumer credit reporting Agencies at 1-888-567-8688 or visit the website at www.optoutprescreen.com; or write to them at TransUnion, PO Box 505, Woodlyn, PA 19094; Equifax, PO Box 740123, Atlanta, GA 30374; Experian, PO Box 919, Allen, TX 75013; Innovis Consumer Assistance, PO Box 495, Pittsburgh, PA 15230.
We understand it can be frustrating having a loan application declined. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Nonetheless, Payoff has a credit policy in place and must review certain credit criteria before extending a decision on credit. Our first concern is that, in facilitating the funding of a loan to a consumer, we do not put the consumer in a worse position as a result of the loan. We want to help people pay off their debt once and for all.
If you have any additional concerns do not hesitate to contact me directly at (949) 430-0630 or by email to [email protected]
