After 5 years with this company I received the standard notification from CIRA that it was time for renewal which I did on Payless.ca website (for 2 years). 30 days later I have a CIRA notice in my mailbox saying that the domain has been deleted (due to non-payment). Unsure at this point and not wanting to waste any time, I renewed again for another 2 years and sent an email to Payless.ca asking [redacted]!
Payless was apologetic and were at a loss to explain since their records clearly indicated an expiry date of 2019-03-18. As compensation, they added an extra year to the agreement. The domain was back up by early afternoon.
Next morning, BAAAMMM! Another CIRA notice advising that the domain had been deleted! A nasty worded email was sent to Payless.ca and a complaint was filed with CIRA due to incompetence. As I type this out, I've received notification from CIRA that the domain name has been redeemed however, Paylees.ca has not had the courtesy of responding.
Unless you are willing to have your website go down and have your customers' emails bounce back to them putting you in the awkward position of explaining "it's not me ,it's them", then maybe you should consider [redacted], I will.
