Review: Entrusted the repair of an older Seiko watch to this business on Feb. 1 2013. Checked in after a month or so and was told he was busy, Mom's health issues etc. but no repair yet. Gave him more time, another month or so. No repair. Finally in mid to late June he calls and I go check out my watch. He has replaced the cracked crystal and spent hours cleaning it but it still does not work. He is not able to extract a broken screw but knows a friend who may be able to help. Then the watch will be fine. I considered taking the watch then but okayed trying to fix the screw. On July 25 the repairman calls to say the watch is fixed. Feb. 1 to July 25. I was unable to pick up the watch then and due to family gatherings in the mid-west I was not back in town until Aug. 23. On Aug. 26 I called and said I'd be over to get the watch, what are the damages? He wasn't sure. His original estimate was $120.00. Then in conversation with me during one of my visits $40.00 and then $80.00 for taking so long and considering what his screw extractor friend charged. I was fine with the original charge, less is better but, I just wanted a working watch back! The watch stopped working at 10:10 that very night! When I tried to adjust the time I was shocked at how difficult it was to move the hands. $120.00 for a broken watch! Aug. 29 I took the watch to another repair shop, Timekeepers, and the repairman wanted to charge $125.00 to fix the watch! Something was wrong with it. Now it is on its way to Seiko Service in N.J.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund because I have been cheated. I trusted him to fix the watch in exchange for the cost of his time, parts, etc. I was patient and understanding, sympathized about his Mom and thought he would treat me fairly. He knew full well when he took my check that the watch was not fixed! The second opinion watch repairman knew it immediately and wanted to charge me $125.00. I am waiting to hear what the Seiko Service technicians tell me about my watch-for approx. another $100.00. Finally a watch that works?
The original repairman offered my money back. I went to collect it and he refused when I did not give him the watch back( not trusting him) then insulted me and ordered me out of his store. What customer service? I am willing to negotiate down some on the refund. If I can recover some of my money fine, if I cannot, my only option will be to tell everyone to avoid his shop.
