My fiance and I went to meet with *** about customizing a Platinum wedding band that would fit flush with my platinum engagement ringShe said she could do it and have it completed prior to Thanksgiving On Oct 20, I paid a $down payment for PLATINUM, which she wrote on the receiptALL of our conversations (via phone, in person and emails) were specific to platinum wedding band for meIt was very clear and no other metal was even brought up as an option by either one of us
My fiance picked up my finished custom shaped wedding band and paid the remaining balanceWhile there, he asked her for a Certificate of AuthenticityAll she offered to give him was the word "platinum" handwritten He asked about a platinum stamp and Vicki told him that she had scraped it off while she was working on it
When I got it, I examined it under a magnifierThere were NO markings of any kind other than a faint "52." Via email, I requested Full Disclosure of the ring & all documents that provide proof of authenticityShe would not provide me with ANY information at allInstead, she asked that we bring the ring back to her that day in exchange for a refundI asked again for the full disclosure, as I needed a platinum band for my wedding in a few weeks(The craftsmanship was below average but I was hoping another jeweler could work with it and fix it.) We did not hear from her again after that
Due to her behavior, My fiance took the "platinum " band to a well known & respected jeweler who did an inspection & scientific testing*The "platinum" band turned out to be a mixture of 14K/18K white gold ONLY
My band had to be custom made to fit flush with my diamond ringTo do this, she had to manipulate the metal to shape it to fit Jewelers have told me that there are huge differences when working with gold and platinum, as gold is much softer & easier to shapeAny GIA Certified jeweler w/over yrs experience doing custom design & appraisals (per her website & per her discussions with us) would have this basic knowledge of precious metals
