Review: We purchased Quorra our African Grey parrot on Feb 2nd 2014 from the Paterson Bird Store [redacted] for $1500 plus tax. When we brought her home we noticed she was shaking. We called the store to ask why she was doing this and they said she was scared and acclimating to her new home. She continued to shake the whole time we had her. We had Quorra for many months with no incident besides the shaking. On December of 2014 Quorra pulled out a few blood feathers and we had to take her to the vet. The vet fixed her up but when we later did research we found out that pulling out blood feathers could indicate other health issues with the bird. On January 1, 2015 Quorra was sitting on her perch and let out a bird screech and then fell off her perch. When we put her on the floor she wasnt able to walk it appeared as if she had a stroke. We called the vet emergency service and he said that there wasnt much he could do at that time and to bring her in the next day. We brought her in and they performed all sorts of tests but the vet believe it was viral. When we asked him how a bird can get something viral he said it can only come from bird to bird contact and he felt that she was like this when we bought her. We called the pet store and explained the situation to the owner. The owner was rude, defensive and made it perfectly clear that the bird was perfectly healthy when he sold her to us and that this was outside of his life guarantee. The best he could do was offer us a discount on another bird. He also said that no other birds from his store were sick. This was a lie as we confirmed others have had the same complaint We continued to work with the vet and have test after test run and no solid cause could be found. The vet consulted with 2 different specialists and they both were confident that the cause was the avian bornavirus which can only be contracted from other birds and leads to the exact same symptoms Quorra was exhibiting. We had to put her to sleep on 3-10Desired Settlement: We have seen other complaints of the same thing from this pet store. We want a full refund. They should also pay for our vet bills but we doubt that will happen. We hope this can help others avoid the same result. Their store is filthy... Bugs infestation in the bird food. Just awful!

I am rejecting this response because:There is no way for me to respond without being an accept or a reject. I am simply writing to let the store know that vet was [redacted] of the [redacted]. He had 2 individual specialists look at the results as well. You have my permission to review the records. You can call my cell if you need further authorization. [redacted] We incurred over $1000 in vet fees as well as the emotional stress this has put on my family.

I am rejecting this response because:I will gladly accept your offer and close the case if you can mail a gift card for the store credit to my house for the amount originally paid with tax.
