TLDR: I hired them to load my stuff into a POD. The guys stopped working when it came time to load my treadmill, stating that I needed to pay an additional fee for the treadmill, and that they would not do any more work until I paid it. I flipped my lid. I emailed the company, attaching the contract they drafted and the terms & conditions from their website, and asked them to show me where their own contract, terms and/or conditions mentioned any additional fee for loading treadmills. They were unable to do so. I did not pay the imaginary fee. They then billed my credit card for time over and above the baseline three hours, without any invoice or explanation of how they calculated that sum, despite the fact that they had not worked the whole time they were at my house.
FULL STORY: Oh, why didn't I check online reviews? I trusted PODS' recommendation. Doh.
The move got off to a rough start when they told me that they had forgotten their tools. There was time spent discussing this, making calls about this, trying to work around this, laboriously taking my furniture apart by hand in ways it is not meant to be taken apart (then equally laboriously putting it back together when I objected), and finally going to buy some tools. So while the total time - from when they first arrived to when they finally left - was five hours, they never sent me a breakdown of what portion of that time was spent working. They simply charged my credit card for an additional $300 over the base fee, without any invoice. When I emailed them and asked for a breakdown of the time that they believed I owed them money for, they did not send me one.
Then there was the treadmill. They actually waited until the treadmill was partly moved - so that it was sitting in the middle of the hallway - before telling me that I needed to pay an extra fee for them to load it. They said that head office had told them not to do any further work until I paid it. I spent seven years as a consumer protection attorney, so let's just say that I do not react well to certain types of threats. The lead guy got back on the phone with headquarters, and magically - after my legalese-y tantrum - I did not need to pay the fee. Christine Owens from headquarters then sent me an email saying that they were oh-so-generously waiving the $85 fee that they normally would have charged for loading a treadmill. There is no mention of such a fee on the contract they had sent me. Nor was any fee mentioned on the Terms & Conditions section of their website (which the contract incorporates by reference). It's not even mentioned on the Pricing List that says "Please do not take this sheet to residence" that they left lying around. I twice emailed Ms. Owens and the sales staff, asking for some indication of where they were getting this fee from. No one responded to my question.
I was also disturbed by the paperwork that they asked me to sign when they first arrived. If for some bizarre reason you decide to hire this company, please read that stuff. If it says that you must sign it before they start work, but also says that you agree that they did not (past tense) damage any of your stuff (as if you could possibly know that before they start work), you probably should not sign it. I refused to sign any of it, and luckily the one guy was nice enough and new enough that he didn't press the issue.
I've hired movers/loaders/unloaders six times in just over five years. There are good ones out there. Just not these guys.
DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY'S SERVICES!!!!! THE worst experience I've ever had with a service provider of any kind in my entire life. Showed up 5 hours late at 8pm in an apartment building. Told me the job would take 3-4 hours - the job took 10 hours and they were in my apartment from 8pm until 6am the next morning. They made so much noise neighbors came to my door to complain. At 4am the police showed up due to complaints from neighbors. I witnessed the movers literally throwing my belongings into the POD. They were supposed to bring wardrobe boxes, mattress bags, picture boxes, but did not. They wrapped a mattress in plastic wrap and then rammed the mattress into a brick wall ripping the plastic off. The damaged more than 15 individual items, including broken lamps, ripped sofa, broken sculpture, scratched framed artwork, broken pieces of wood furniture, and much more. They refused to move the last two pieces of furniture out of my apartment (sofa and rug) and so I had to pay another company almost $300 to remove the items. Following this whole nightmare they promised to send me the forms to put in a claim for the damaged items, but never did. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY'S SERVICES EVER EVER EVER!!!!!!!!
My experience with this the crew assigned to pack and load my household goods moving from San Antonio, Texas to Henderson, Nevada was the worst ever. I was packed on July 27th and loaded into my PODS on July 28th for transport. When my PODS were unloaded in Henderson, boxes labeled fragile were on the bottom and heavy boxes were loaded on top of them. Needless to say many boxes had broken items, some irreplaceable. Bed frames were placed on top of furniture resulting in deep scares. The crew that unloaded the PODS in Henderson could not apologize enough for what they saw. I thanked them for the apology but reminded them that it was not them that caused the damages. The crew in San Antonio should be fired for their lack of concern of someone else's property that was entrusted to them and was paid a good some of money for their service. You could not pay me enough to use Pack and Load again. I served 30 years in the military and moved countless times, however I never experienced such a complete disregard for someone else's property as I did with Pack and Load. If Pack and Load values their reputation in hopes to increase their business via referrals, I would investigate the crew involved in my move and take the appropriate action to rectify the problem. God help us if this is the new substandard of doing business these days.
ohmygosh. I wish I had found this review page before I hired them. but they were the only unload service that returned my call for help in a timely manner. like other posts here, the "local" crew went AWOL. I was not told this. after they were an hour late I kept calling and kept being REASSURED (lied to) that they were on their way. it was a Friday afternoon in a small town. after 4 hours of me calling and be told they would show up I received a call at little after 7pm (on a friday night) and told that this service has been labeled a "FAILURE". that they wouldn't be helping me and I should just google local movers on my own!!!!! WHAAAAA???? It's a friday night, after 7 and no one would probably return calls until Monday. my POD was granted a SPECIAL PERMIT to be parked dangerously in a city street and was to be picked up at 7:30 am the next morning. they knew this!! they told me they had been trying for 5 hours to get ahold of the crew!!! whaaa??? why did they keep reassuring me?? Lie to me?? if I had had those extra hours I might have been able to develop a plan B. I was LIVID and I laid into them and told them they WOULD NOT LEAVE ME HIGH AND DRY. SOOOO they did get a crew to drive 5 hours that night and unload the next day. my permit was expired, and the road hazard had to sit there until Monday morning. Neighbors were not please. This crew was also fast and didn't seem to listen to me much. I was just grateful they were there at all so when they broke two feet off a cabinet I didn't make a fuss. I asked the company for some money off but that fell on deaf ears. If I had been penalized by the city, you bet i'd be pushing for more. very OVER PRICED btw. (automatically charged for a treadmill that was light and very easy for the crew. they said my table was harder....don't tell them you have a treadmill)
I was appalled at this company. Needed to hire some help to move some furniture from a one bedroom condo down 1 flight of stairs directly into a POD storage container. Was told cost was $400+ dollars. As I was pressed for time, I decided to 'book' it while on the phone and hold the reservation with every intention of trying to find a cheaper option. I was able to find a cheaper option in :30 minutes for half the cost. I immediately called PALS and was informed I owed a $75 cancellation fee. The jerk on the phone told me he just worked their, wasn't the owner, and that was the policy. I was not informed of this fee earlier and I called back within an hour. $75 for what? Absolutely nothing. I promptly cancelled my card.
There jerks are somehow affiliated with PODs as a recommended packing company. DO NOT HIRE THEM. PODs was great to work with, thank got I didn't hire these bozos for $400.
My experience with this company was very frustrating. As their representatives were loading our furniture, a nice wooden cabinet was ruined. When the rest of the furniture was unloaded, multiple items were damaged. It took 4 calls to Pack & Load Services to get a response and be sent a claim form. Big and bold at the top of the form is the policy that they will only pay liability for a maximum of $250. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. There is nothing we can do with our damaged furniture. $250 does not come close to covering the replacement of the cabinet....let alone the scratches to the other items. Look closely at the fine print. We were in a rush and didn't notice the clause. We do not want anyone else to be taken in by this company.
Very, Very unhappy with Pack and Load Services. They are the only company I have ever spoken with that takes money from people upfront. My mother, who is elderly, simply called for a quote. When I spoke with her an hour later she said they took her credit card info. After looking up yelp reviews (which are terrible by the way) I called to cancel. I was transferred to Chris F., who was unhelpful and disrespectful, and was told they were not going to refund my mothers money. I'm so happy we are not using them for the move and will unhappily write this review of them basically stealing my moms $75.
I have moved several times in my life and I have never had my furniture and belongings treated with the utter lack of respect that I have experienced with Pack and Load Services. They hired 3rd party people to pack my pod. Those people were careless. They didn't wrap the furniture in the blankets and paper that I paid for and provided. Several of my high end pieces of furniture now have scratches all over them. I have a $1700 Elliptical machine that was shoved into the POD and very heavy boxes were stacked on top of the elliptical console. When it was unpacked the console was cracked and broken off of the elliptical machine. The claims processes is a joke, and their liability limit is a maximum of $250. Which is incredibly frustrating especially when I paid them an extra $150 to give special attention to my elliptical machine and I will get none of that back. This company is a complete Joke.....I will never use them again and I will never recommend them to anyone I know. I will always pay a little more to other bigger moving companies that take more pride in the way they treat their customers belongings.
Pack & Load Services is far and away and the worst moving company I have ever hired. Three individuals showed up in a rented U-Haul Oct. 26, 2017, and spent 13 hours before completing the move. From previous experiences, they should have accomplished this job in less than 8 hours. The meter must have been running because the final bill to move 30 minutes away was more than $2,500.
Then when I sought restitution for some items that were lost during the move ($200 cost to replace the missing items), the company ignored three different calls before finally advising me that I would have to file a police report. I am not seeking prosecution. I am seeking to be compensated for items lost. Some faith this company has in its employees to have them named in a police report. It was a rude experience dealing with customer service and the operations manager who would rather blow the whistle on its own employees or contractors than make the customer happy. Best thing would be to pay for the cost of replacing lost items and correct any problems internally;
I will never use Pack & Load Services, Inc. again. Should have chosen local moves in the first place.
Don't make the same mistake I did.
Pack and Load Services. This company is referred by PODS. If I could give this company a 0, I would. I was told by Michael that I better tentatively book the services because their schedule was filling. We spoke and he never said that there would be a $75 cancellation fee...even if called the next day. When I called, I was then rudely told that he would not have said there was a not a cancellation fee. He was so rude and said the call was recorded and he would call me back after listening but of course, I could not hear the tape. I spoke with him at 3:11 pm and did not receive the paperwork with the $75 cancel fee until 3:25 pm. I have screen shots of the call time and proof of after the fact invoice. This company purposely (obviously) uses this practice of hurry and book and never mentions the cancel fee. Do NOT ever use this company. I am a well-educated professor who teaches business and this is the one thing I tell my students...be honest, ethical, and upfront with customers. I was treated like an it not knowing what I was talking about. I am waiting for a call back just waiting to hear that the tape clearly had him telling me about a cancellation fee..which he did not.
In all due respect, Ms. was in-fact informed of a cancellation policy. I have the actual telephone call recording in which Michael FULLY explains the cancellation fee. Additionally, we HAVE WAIVED THE CANCELLATION FEE. As a matter of fact, we never had charged her the fee to begin with. As far as ethical, honest, and up-front, I encourage Ms. to contact me directly and as I would welcome the opportunity to play the recording for her. Maybe she will stand behind her words as I am standing behind mine.

As with many unsuspecting customers (people), reporting to the Revdex.com, I want to help point a spotlight on the Pack & Load and warn others to just what type of company these people are. They are not concerned with building a reputable company with values, ethics, and morals. No, instead they work in the shadows, never to be seen or to deal with public face to face because they have no integrity or concern for anything besides how to scam the next unsuspecting person out of there money.
In our case, my wife hired Pack & Load, to load a pod for us on an upcoming move we had planned several weeks in advance. That night, once I learned what they were charging to do our work, we quoted with a local company that provides the same service and found the cost to be less than half of what we were being charged from Pack & Load. Furthermore, we learned that Pack & Load, not being a company within our city or state, merely hires day laborer's to show up at our door.
I called Pack & Load back within one day and canceled our move with them and was issued an invoice with a zero balance. A few days later, we learned that our card had been billed a cancellation fee. I called Pack & Load back and was told that because we signed agreeing to the fee, they were entitled to take our money.
So here is where ethics come into play and speaks volumes about the type of company Pack & Load are and the reputation they are building . Yes we did sign the document and legally Pack & Load can take our money as they did, but when we canceled just one day after and weeks in advance of the move, we know they have not called and scheduled the day laborers just yet, nor is anyone out anything because we canceled. It's only an unscrupulous company without ethics or morals that will feel good about taking money from people for doing nothing.
Called PLS on October 12. 2017 and set up appointment to pack home contents into a POD (Sun Prairie WI) and on a separate date, unpack and move contents into our new home in McFarland WI. We called 3 hours later to cancel and was informed there would be $150 cancellation fee. We were instructed to call the person who took the order to resolve the issue, (Chris F.) was not available until the next day. When we did speak with Mr. F., he reiterated that there would be a cancellation fee of $150. We complained that there was no mention of the cancellation fee at the time of booking and that no confirmation for the booking was sent. We disputed the charge with our credit card company who placed a hold on the $150 while it was being investigated. PLS resubmitted the charge as a response to a request for information. Consequently we are very unhappy with our experience with PLS.
If I could give this company a zero I definitely would. I spent over 22 years in the military and during the course of my service I moved 9 times. This was by far the worst pack job I have ever experienced. We were packed in San Antonio by a crew from The Dallas Texas area. They packed all over the house never completing a room. They packed my fine China but they left out some pieces to be packed in another box. It's goi g to be a nightmare to set up my new home. And if that was not bad enough one of the workers stole my 3 carat diamond wedding ring and pawned it at a pawn shop in Dallas. Just so you know the area where I had my jewelry was an area they should not have even been in. There was nothing in that area to be packed. And to make matters worst they quoted me $3800 but they billed me over $6500. Whatever you do do not pay them with a credit card. However, I would not recommend them at all, they hire thieves, they are horrible packers and not trustworthy.
I would never use Pack N' Load again. I am currently in a dispute with them on the job they did unloading our POD in WA back in May 2017 (they also loaded the POD in TN.) They were doing a good job until the last item was to be moved, which was a safe. The WA crew didn't know there was going to be a safe. They didn't have the right size hand-truck or the extra person they needed. The safe slipped off the handtruck, fell down the stairs hit the wall and caused a hole in the new carpet. (The house had been freshly painted and new carpet put in before we moved in.) The company doesn't want to pay for the repairs. They are holding their liability statement as including house damage, which it does not. The liability statement only states examples of damage to an item loaded or unloaded from the storage unit, not damage done to the house itself. So, I am working with my credit card company in trying to resolve this issue. The company is fighting it. They even altered the document I signed agreeing everything was done alright. That is not really true. I didn't want to sign the document but the Pack N' Load guy said he couldn't leave until it was signed. I asked him if he tried contacting someone. He said no one was answering..which was true because I couldn't contact anyone at that time either. I signed it with an asterik then added a note of what happen. That is no longer on the copy they sent to the credit card company, which makes me think an alteration was done.
The company is very dishonest and they do not supply the correct number of people or equipment to do the job correctly. Do not use them.
Hired them to move my home furnishings into a pod. I was told about the hourly rates and that was all. No mention of Bulky items. The guys showed up with no dolly. I had two safes to be moved so I went out and rented a dolly. They were not really big safes and the guys moved both in 10 minutes time with the dolly. So Pack and load charges me an extra $75 per safe to move with the dolly I rented. Total rip off!
We used Pack and Load Services, Inc. to pack a POD in Cleveland, TN and to unload the POD in our new home in Bremerton, WA. In our Tennessee home, they damaged the walls on the staircase and master bedroom door. The bill to repair and repaint the door and stairway was $200. In our Bremerton, Washington home, The unpackers dropped a safe down the stairs, damaging the new carpet which caused a hole in the carpet and dropping the safe also damaged the stairwell wall. The carpet cost $200.00 to replace and the bill to repair the stairwell was $163.35. We received a check from Pack and Load for $50.00 on June 19, 2017 to cover all damage.
TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE IS MY STRONG RECOMMENDATION! Very expensive service and very low quality of professionalism. We had to stop movers from moving a glass china cabinet with clear view of crystal inside that was secure yet. Antique furniture was stacked on top of each other without being secured properly. Rude interactions with us as we made suggestions on how to load better. After complaining, they offered to send the team back to fix it the sloppy load job, but there wasn't time for that (nor did we want the team to do more damage). My wife and I had to unload and reload much of the pod ourselves. Took repeated phone calls to get Manager Ricky S. to even talk and heoffered no help in dealing with the matter and said that his supervisor Doug P. refused to offer any solutions. Take your business elsewhere is my STRONG RECOMMENDATION!
What an aweful experience. Two guys to pack an entire house, they rushed through it by cramming stuff in boxes that broke at the seams, they lost a wooden insert to our cabinets and failed to properly secure items in the POD. Worst movers ever! Horrible customer service.
They provided substandard service, billed me incorrectly, and failed to respond to my efforts to address incorrect charges on my invoice.
