Review: On May 28, 2013, my wife was transported by Pacific Ambulance from Scripps Urgent Care in San Diego to Scripps Hospital San Diego. I was billed for $3,239.66. Total miles 16. Transport only. Healthcare provider called Ambulance company. Pacific tech told me I could not transport and could not tell me what transport costs. United Healthcare states on their website that they pay 90% of "elidgable" fees for transport. Elidgable meaning "reasonable and customary." United paid $1,000 of the bill - Pacific demands payment for the balance (the unreasonable and uncustomary portion of the bill), or about $2,000. Scripps Clinic says I'm being overbilled, and there's nothing they can do to help. United says I'm being overbilled and there is nothing they can do to help. Pacific says they'll send me to collections if I don't pay them. I've been contesting this bill for more than a year. If this ambulance company can bill what ever they want - why don't they bill me $30,000 rather than $3,000? According to them....I'd still have to pay the invoice. What do I do? They won't budge.Desired Settlement: I pay the 10% of what's left of the "reasonable and customary" portion of the bill, or about $120.
