Review: OC Overhead Doors measured our existing garage door which needed to be replaced, accepted the work to replace the door, springs, tracks, rails, rollers, and all hardware. Their fees included a $10 haul-off fee, 8% tax, and a non-refundable 25% deposit. I let them know we had a slanted garage floor that would require a custom portion at the bottom of the door; I estimated it to be a 5" gap. The door is weathered, and the lower portion of wood was detaching. We have pictures to show the slight damage on the door before they ruined it. We were contractually bound at that point and OC Overhead Door Company accepted our 25% "non-refundable" deposit for the work. My wife and I are the owners, and we have tenants living at the address in question. OC Overhead Doors accepted the work after measuring, and took our deposit. For whatever reason, the technician, [redacted], decided the door was now stuck open and decided to CUT the CABLES to the door so that it would close and not fall on anyone. Not sure if that was the course of action a reasonable and competent person would take. At that point they were tacitly committing to do the work.
A few days later, after several phone calls to them, they sent another installer, [redacted], to re-measure and assess. He determined they would not take on the project. I spoke with a [redacted], [redacted], who suggested we should pour new concrete on our garage floor to level it out so that their door would fit. He then suggested that gluing a 2x6" piece of wood to the floor would solve the installation problem, but he completely ignored that you wouldn't be able to get a car in or out of the garage at that point. [redacted] decided to refund our deposit since they were not equipped to build a custom door to fit our property, and abandoned the job.Desired Settlement: Our desired outcome is one of the following options:
(a) repair/replace the cables and repair the door so that it returned to the working state that it existed in before they damaged the door and cut the cables,
(b) reimburse for parts and labor to have a different contractor repair the door so that it returned to the working state that it existed in before they damaged the door and cut the cables,
(c) have OC Over Doors pay for the costs of having a contractor perform the work of replacing the door, springs, tracks, rails, rollers, and all hardware for the same original price they quoted for the work, $1,163.16 (incl. tax).
