I hired this company to do my engine harness. Subsequently, Donald J, the owner, offered to fix several electrical issues w my car. This was not his area of expertise. He sat on my car for several months after I took it to him. Car sat outside his father's house much longer than the deadline he gave me. Each time I went there my car hadn't been merely touched. Ultimately he couldn't fix a lot of the things wrong with my car he said he could. He ultimately pieced it together in a hurry very poorly. I paid him in full in advance.
Work he performed is as follows:
Re-positioned ECU & main relay port on the foot side of the passenger side of the car, exposed to easily getting kicked by any passenger. As a result of this, we couldn't put back the factory carpeting which he removed when he did this work.
Reinstalled instrument cluster incorrectly, gauges crooked, and none worked the way they did upon bringing him car.
Couldn't re-program my Dakota digital converter to make tachometer work. Made me order another apparatus to replace this one because he couldn't program it.
Failed to include reverse light connection as part of new harness.
Couldn't figure out why my climate control stopped working.
Upon reinstalling dashboard, didn't reinstall audio tweeters. Left them lose inside the car.
Ultimately took the car elsewhere as I could no longer afford to drive back and forth to Deltona, where he lived, and summon rides from friend to go pick my car (per Donald's instructions), and it no being completed.
Most of the work had to be redone by new shop & I had to repay for hours of work Donald did incorrectly &/or never finished.
Refund Refund of a $1,000 for work redone. I paid Donald J a total of $1200 for the engine harness still missing a reverse light connection, & $775 for the electrical work never finished & had to be redone. I paid Revolution Audio (new shop) $1,560 additional to fix all above-mentioned rewiring and re-installation issues. Therefore, I've paid $3,535 total (not including transportation costs). I believe $1,000 to be more than fair to help cover at least a fraction of said expenses.
Most of what this complaint is about is a lie. I was refered to this customer from another business that did not want to deal with him. I quoted him $1200.00 for a engine harness he payed half ( I have the proof and in is complaint he said he payed in full that's the first lie ) I built the engine harness and went to Kings performance to install. The mock up engine harness he gave me was not the same year as his vehicle so I had to redo a few things ( the relays in question ) to properly start the car. The owner at kings performance could not have the car at his shop so we had the car towed to my fathers address. The ecu on the vehicle was bad so I shipped it out to AEM ( Advance engine management ) ( the also have on record when the received the ecu and when it was sent out ) after about a week and a hlf the ecu was sent back and the car stared perfectly. the vehicle had other issues prior to me even seeing the car had a lot of wiring issues due to the pervious shop or shops that wires his gauges burning a lot of wire (I have pictures of all the damaged work other people did ) when the car went back to Kings performance these gauges in question where shutting off ( I never touched them my job was to build a engine harness that's what the 1200 was for ) I got the full payment for the engine harness about 2 to 3 months after initial payment after we both knew my part was done. I had him bring the car back to me to fix the mess that other people mad I have pictures of befor and after of the work and also sent them to him. the job took a little longer than expected because of the mess that was crated also had wires zip tied to the suspension of the car that I also have pics of. I charged him $450.00 not $775.00 for the wiring work for the gauges that consisted of the following
replace dash
wire gauges
and supplies
the vehicle had a lot of exposed wires from the previous shop that delt with the car everything worked proper besides the RPM gauge due to the calibration that I could not find any info on. Also have videos of everything in working order. After picking up the car he took it to get tuned however, under boost pressure the cylinder head was lifted so he decided to do some more engine work. I came to Orlando the his parents residents to touch up a few things on the car and we both spoke about the things that we were going to do with the vehicle. I was suppost to come back in 2 week to re do a few things that I wanted to change. He contacted me 2 to 3 weeks later telling me that another shop was working on the car and wanted to compare invoices to see what they went over on the things I was suppose to do. ( I have all the messages ) the only thing they went over was the connection to the gauges ( in our conversation at his parents house we spoke about me redoing and he agreed ). I told him I warranty my work but by him not contacting me before letting someone else put there hands on it it voided the warranty however, him being a good guy I said I would work with him and refund him FOR THE WORK THE THE NEW SHOP WENT OVER ( just for the record the invoice he sent for 1200 was for the engine harness that's not what the complaint is about its for the invoice for $450.00 that I have proof that he vied and payed ) he requested a refund for 450 dollars for the work I did ( also have proof of ) I declined and told him I would only refund for the work that the shop went over which was about $100.00 I cant give him a full invoice refund when 90% of the things I did on the 450 dollar invoice was 100% I have about 9 witnesses that can collaborate with this entire situation I have all pics messages and will be more than happy to take this to court if need be and my refund offer is $200 at the most if not we can escalate it.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This person is referring to many unrelated things to this. For example he talks of a completed harness, which I currently have reverse lights. He also speaks of incidents not related to this case like Kings performance. In this great country proof take precedence over words and allegations. I've submitted substantial evidence via my receipt of the apps used to pay for all this work, including all the additional this person never did, but I still paid him for.
Let's stick to the proof. I've sent the receipt from other shop I used who did work Donald (Orion Tuning) couldn't complete. Again the documentation I've submitted confirms every detail in my complaint.
I take it a professional assessment will be made based on proof, of which the owner of this company didn't provide any in his testimony.
Whatever pics he has I'm sure will not show proof enough of the things he did not complete.
This gentleman's expertise seems to be building harnesses of which he didn't finish mine, as mentioned above. He puts his ego & his mouth ahead of his work, by bragging bout how good he is to compensate for his lack of expertise in other areas of the work he tries to perform on cars. Donald works from home out of his dad's driveway, & takes on more work than he can handle. He sat on my car for over 2 months after telling me he'd have it fixed in far less time. Every time I went to his house my car hadn't been finished or merely touched. He ultimately couldn't fix a lot of the things electrically on my car so he continued to sit on the work, continuously giving me excuses as to why my car wasn't finished. He obviously took on work he wasn't qualified to handle, yet took my money, which I paid him the entire amount before he could finish my car. Things like repositioning my ECU & main relay port where it was exposed on the foot side of the passenger side of the car, which he removed when he re-installed the ECU but the factory carpeting couldn't be put back, and removing my instrument cluster & putting it back on wrong, along w not being able to reprogram & install several other things on my car are unacceptable for a customer who paid him in full.
Having to take the car elsewhere was a huge headache a lots of hours of work for the gentleman who had to redo a lot of things Donald didn't finish.
The minimum I'll take for is $600, which doesn't nearly cover all the above, and the exorbitant transportation costs I incurred as a result of my going to Donald's dad house (which is where he works out of), per his instructions to go pick up my car, but each time it wasn't finished. Gas, tolls, and taking it to Kings performance, which I'm glad he mentioned to have the car tuned but could never achieve this because they always found something wrong with Donald's work that had to be rectified (except for the head that ultimately blew, unrelated to Donald's work and this case). Each time the car was placed on the Dyno I had to pay several hundred dollars to then have to bring it back. For the record Donald refused to go to Kings to fix his work. He only went once to install the ECU after he installed the harness. After a multitude of excuses, I decided that it no longer made sense for me to continue paying for this process because it go to way too much money.
Even though his story has many loopholes, I'm not going to continue to call him out on them. I've submitted more than enough evidence of the work I paid for that was done mediocrely, never performanced or wasn't finished.
For the record I informed Donald of my taking the car elsewhere before I did, to which he responded "if your guy can finish the word fine". In fact I even contacted Donald to inform him of the extra work I paid, and he responded "no worries, send me the invoice, and I'll work with you".
I believe that the evidence I've provided is sufficient enough, vs no evidence provided by Mr. J in the matter. If he wishes to pursue this in court I have no problem with doing so. I took this route as an attempt to avoid said route. So $600, make it go away, or pursue it further. Ball's on his court.
