My daughter has been trying to cancel her membership for over 3 months. She has sent emails and made phone calls. She only went to the center 2 times before she had a back injury (work related) to where she could not go anymore. She completed the required information to cancel her membership and emailed it to them. The company continued contacting her saying she owed them money. She had to contact the bank to have the payments stopped from being automatically withdrawn. They still continue to contact her and she has even completed the cancellation forms again as they say they did not get them the first time. I received a letter from them this week about a past due amount. I tried calling the person who wrote the letter, ***, and the girl answering the phone yelled across to her saying "***, there is someone on the phone asking for you. Do you want me to tell them you have already left?" The person then said to me "*** is not here". I told her I heard her talking to *** and she then said "Well, she is standing here with her keys in her hand and needs to go get a gift card". I then asked to speak to the owner Mary Davis. I was told that she was not there and I might have trouble getting in contact with them. My complaint is that they have failed to cancel my daughter's membership and have already gotten paid for a month when she could not use the facility. I feel they are harassing us at this point. Her membership has supposedly been cancelled and she should owe them nothing since they withdrew the amount of $178 from her account after she had cancelled. They really owe us money, but I want them to stop contacting my daughter and sending threatening letters. My daughter followed their policies and cannot help if they lost her cancellation notice. My experience today shows me that they do not know how to effectively run a business.
The name on the account is ***. She is 22 years old, but as it is my bank account, I filed the complaint.
