We are not responsible for patient expenses We have the ability to obtain authorizations for treatment, but we are not able to determine the patient's share of the expense, as this is determined by the insurance company This is why we have all patients sign documents that state they are responsible for their medical expenses For example; we have no way of knowing if an additional medical expense(s) may have occurred between the time of authorization and the time of claim payment This is entirely up to the insured and their insurance company In an effort to appease the patient, considering her financial circumstances, we were able to negotiate with her and work out an arrangement that satisfied our office and the patient.OC Diagnostics

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. I've sent a 50% agreed upon payment in the amount of $438.87 to OC Diagnostics.

Review: June 8, 2015 I had a mammogram at this facility who advised me to have an MRI due to family breast cancer although my images were OK. I explained July 1, 2015 I'd have a new medical insurance and if there was no "out of pocket" costs I'd move forward before the July 1st date. Per Anthem, [redacted], called on 5/15/15 and was provided pre-authorization, explanation of benefits AND informed that I had a $865.00 deductible that hadn't been met. I called a couple times to confirm no out-of-pocket cost. I called the morning of the procedure date, June 29th asking when I should take the Xanax for my anxiety, they told me 30 minutes prior. Because of the medication my daughter drove me to the 3:30 pm appointment. I was asked to sign the standard payment responsibility documents, which I did. On July 30th I received an invoice for $877.74 which was the unmet deductible. I've spoken to Robin & Theresa who asked if I paid $165 or $865.00 at time of service. I explained I was NEVER asked for any payments and if I would have I'd cancelled the appointment and do it July 1st or later so the deductible could be towards my annual amount on my new insurance. Today when I spoke to [redacted] she's now telling me that [redacted] (girl who checked me in) noted that she asked for payment and I refused, TOTAL LIE! Yes, it's my responsibility to know my deductible and that is why I called confirming there would be NO OUT OF POCKET fees - they said, "no" and NEVER asked for payment on the day of procedure. This business is SCAMMING people. [redacted] even mentioned that their policy is to provide services to ALL patients even if they can't pay at time of service, REALLY? She also said that the company has thousands of "out for collections" which is certain since they're NOT providing info although they were given benefit & deductible info. They're "fixing" their records with lies after the fact because I've called and have talked to numerous people. Now I'm supposed to call the Controller, [redacted] after August 12th. HORRIBLE BIZ!!Desired Settlement: They need to adjust my invoice to ZERO. I would like copies of ALL documents and notes proving [redacted] asked me for payment of $865.00 deductible and my signature that I declined to pay. My daughter and I can swear in court that I was NEVER informed or asked for any payment. If I had, I would have refused the services on that day. Company should be investigated. They are lying but would rather think that it's simply human error and write it off. [redacted] is lying and should investigate her too.
