Review: I have been enrolled at Orange County Community College for several years on and off. I was enrolled into the Occupational Therapy program and was slighted to graduate 2013. However, in the summer of 2011, I became pregnant and it was a complicated pregnancy. In my spring semester, I had to finish from home with the support of my teachers as my body would not allow me to continue. This is documented by my Doctor. I had already signed up for classes in the summer. The day classes were to begin (I was still on disability) I had someone drive me to the school so I could cancel my classes, as I could not even return to work yet. The lady informed me that I would have had to cancel classes the day before to avoid charges. When I described my circumstances, she said to fill out an appeal and that it would not be a problem to get the charges refunded due to documentation. I did fill out the appeal and never heard anything back until the account when into collections. I feel that this is unjust. I have attended class at OCCC for several years and there has never been a problem. However, with my medical condition at the time I was unable to attend school and filled out the paperwork as directed. I never got any feedback on the appeal or where to go to next. After the account when into collections I did pay a partial payment of 100.00 only it makes me so angry because I was not physically capable of going to school. I had documentation saying so, and I also filled out an appeal of which I got no response.Desired Settlement: I want the charges removed. I never took the classes that I signed up for because I could not physically be there. I did file an appeal to no avail. Please remove the owed charges and I can still provide documentation that I was on disability.
