OPPAT

OPPAT is a third party organization that does physical testing for individuals trying to get hired with a paramedic service. I am currently a student at *** in the paramedic program and during the time that I had done my OPPAT I was in my third out of fourth semester of the program. I completed my OPPAT testing on November 26th, 2018 in Waterloo and has payed $250.00 to complete this test. Many paramedic services require you to complete this test successfully in order to get a job, but *** region specifically asked you to have the test completed before December 13th, or you would not be able to continue the hiring process.

I completed the OPPAT and a few hours later got an email of my results saying I had PASSED. Note, that I had been training for many months prior to my test to prepare myself for it, so once I had passed I did continue to go to the gym and workout but had not been focusing on OPPAT specific style training. Fast forward to December 28th, 2018, when *** was sending out their email to invite individuals to the next step in the process I did not receive one.

A few hours later I received an email from OPPAT saying there was an error with the original email and I had actually FAILED my test and I was able to try again in about 10 days. I was very upset about this and I replied to the email stating my concerns saying how it was completely unfair and unprofessional and they are wasting my money as I now have to start training again for this test and spend another $250.00 (plus tax) to do the test again. Because I did not receive the error email until after the *** invites had been sent out, I sent *** my original email showing them I had PASSED. Since I did not pass, *** is now trying to accuse me of falsifying documents and *** I will not graduate this semester because they will not let me do my placement with them. OPPAT is very unprofessional and I will not be paying to do this test again.
