Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/09/25) */
I received this complaint today and after doing some research I found that Mr_ [redacted] brought his vehicle in on 08/18/2015 with the complaint of the Check engine light was on. After doing the diagnostic for code p0340 and code p0016 it was...
determined that the camshaft sensor needed to be replaced to correct the check engine light. So that was the same conclusion the other shop came too. But during our inspection the Technician noted that the spark plug sockets were % full of oil and that the oil was draining down the engine and ixansmission, And on the invoice it stated Note- Strongly recommends correcting this issue and that is where the extra expense came in, it was not UP SELLING but a preventive maintenance recommendation. Now this situation may not be a problem at this exact moment but if it is not taken care of will damage engine and transmission in the future. So the customer could have just gone ahead and replaced the cam shaft sensor and addressed the other issue later, but wt were trying to keep him from having an issue. So I am sorry that I will have to decline on giving the customer a $95.00 refund. But when he is ready to address the oil issue we will honor the estimate we gave him for the next 6 month. We do not pay commissions to any of our employees so there is no benefit to up sell a customer.
Respectfully

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/09/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I was told by the person I paid that it would be around $579.38 to have all this work done. He did not give me a choice, that is why I declined. A copy of the invoice is enclosed for proof.
It does not have the name of the person I talked to or paid, or the mechanics name???
Notice that it has prices of parts and labor, but does not have it added up. Most of those items I don't even need for this particular job.
The estimate is for doing it all, not just the cam sensor. Doesn't look like their giving me a choice.
Notice where it says "customer states that" should be "cam sensor" needed replacing.
Very unprofessional paper work. I demand my $95.00 refunded.
