Old Republic Title

I was disappointed in the way our escrow was recently managed by Old Republic Title Company (ORTC). So as not to waste your time, I will briefly describe our concerns below.

We were notified via telephone voice message of our time to sign for Friday, July 7th on Friday, June 7th. Because we were not additionally contacted via email or cell phone we ended up only having a few hours notice. Because we were leaving town the following morning we had no choice but to adjust our commitments and make the ORTC appointment. An earlier notification and notifying us via email or cell phone would have been helpful.

We signed in Folsom and the officer was unfamiliar with our file. She made two or three phone calls back to Lake Tahoe ORTC to ask for clarification. Having reviewed the file with the Lake Tahoe office would have made this signing smoother.

At our initial signing we were mistakenly being charged $500.00 for a home warranty. This was not in the contract. After I noticed the error it was removed.

After leaving town we were notified by our listing agent that all of our signed documents had been lost and we needed to resign. We made adjustments in our travel schedule which impacted our family and friends. We asked to sign the following morning at 8:00am as to not inconvenience the others we were with any more than necessary. We did not hear from ORTC until the following morning at approximately 9:00am. There did not seem to be a sense of urgency in helping us to resign as early as possible.

When we arrived for our second signing the escrow officer was also unfamiliar with our file. Having reviewed the file with the Lake Tahoe office would have made this signing smoother.

I was encouraged to hear ORTC had located our lost signed documents. I was disappointed we had not been contacted with that information as soon as they were discovered. We were very concerned about these lost documents as they contained personal information, social security numbers and alike. Very disappointing.
