I’ve taken my boat And Yamaha 115 4 stroke outboard to Ocean Outboard for years requesting 100 Hour prescribed Yamaha maintenance and to solve specific performance problems.
After a long wait, my boat was returned to me in worse performance condition than when I turned it in. A chronic fuel starvation problem causing rough running and stalling was not solved. A worsening fuel leak caused a small fire in and around the motor. The lower unit (propeller and shaft) was very loud at the first launching of the boat after repair.
Deeming the boat unsafe and unreliable, I hauled it out and discovered a fuel leak and a lower unit compartment devoid of required lubricating oil. I decided to never to return to Ocean Outboard based on incomplete, incompetent or absent maintenance that I had requested and paid for.

After a difficult search, I was referred to a credentialed Master Yamaha Technician who condemned the lower unit based on neglected or poorly done maintenance leading to parts frozen by corrosion and a failed spring that compromised a seal leading loss of lubricant and metal fragments in critical moving parts. He also found inadequate cleaning and adjustment of fuel injectors, missing or jury rigged connectors and fasteners, and an unsolved problem with the fuel pick up in the tank. Once he called the boat in for service, it was completely fixed in less than two weeks. The motor runs perfectly now.

I lost the use of my boat for weeks, paid more than $2200 for ineffective parts and labor, paid another $2910 to correctly repair the motor - and, most disturbing, had my vessel, myself and my passengers put at risk of fire and/or stranding by shoddy work.
