Review: I was quoted $59 over the phone from OC Fresh Carpet Care to clean my small L shaped couch on Wednesday, March 5th, 2014. I booked the appointment and was told they would arrive between 10 and 12pm. The two employees showed up at 11:30am and began with treating a "test" spot on the couch.After the test spot was shown to me and the area looked very clean, they proceeded to explain that I would need a deep clean, as the $59 quote was only for the "steam clean process" and my couch needed much more than that. It's then that they dropped a $450 price tag to clean the rest of the couch. Feeling completely blindsided, I said that was too much. He then called his supervisor to see what discounts he could find. He dropped the price to $340 and began intimidating me. As a female, by myself in my apartment, with two male employees, I started to feel like I didn't have another choice. They dropped the $450 bomb on me after they had already started the process and this being my first time having a couch cleaned, I had no idea what the cost really was. It wasn't until I called a friend to ask if it was reasonable and my friend explained that I was being taken advantage of.I then stopped the two employees about ten minutes into the process and told them I didn't think the pricing was fair and wanted to speak to their supervisor. They explained that they were "almost done" and since I had already paid cash before they even started the service, they weren't going to give me my money back. Speaking with the supervisor over the phone, he was rude, demeaning and justified the ridiculous charges. Insisting that they could at least take the $50 "scotch guard" charge off my bill since they hadn't been able to apply it yet, one employee said he was not able to give me anything back from my CASH payment. He said I would have to go through their billing department. It was at this point that I followed them to their car and stood behind it until they gave me $40 from the $50 service they didn't even perform.Desired Settlement: I just want my $300 back. After this incident, I looked into their rating and found that they have taken advantage of MULTIPLE people. The deceptive Yahoo rating, which I found them through, was 4.5 stars but their Yelp rating is 1 star. This company shouldn't be allowed to get away with their unethical treatment of good people who are just looking to get a good service for a fair price.
