This company advertises on the internet that they sell “ perfect fit high quality auto carpets” I ordered a carpet from them and received something completely different. The carpet is no where near a perfect fit. The video that they show online on how to install their carpet looks nothing like the carpet I received. It doesn’t fit the contours, and is over 18 inches to long. Amy (the owner) says to cut 9 inches off each end to make it fit . They won’t refund my money without a restocking fee.
We, at OC Auto Carpets, are a dealer for ACC. ACC is the leading manufacturer in the industry for after-market automotive replacement flooring for the past 40 years. They do a substantial amount of business with auto restoration shops, auto upholsterers and end users who order over and over again. Carl, our customer initially contacted us to advise that he didn’t think he received the correct carpet because it was too long and didn’t match his floor pan. He also stated, “I cleaned and dyed my original carpet this weekend” and wanted to return the product for a full refund. We explained to the customer that all of our molded carpet kits require some kind of cutting or trimming to ensure a perfect fit which is also documented on our website. Not all carpet kits have the same amount of trimming. Some require more and some require less. The video he viewed from our website is not for his specific vehicle. It’s a generic video we display to help educate the customer on what the installation process entails which is why the carpet in the video didn’t look like the one he received for his vehicle. We requested photos to validate the customers claims. Based on the photos he sent, the plant manager at ACC, was able to determine that the customer did not have the carpet positioned in the vehicle correctly which is why it was not lining up with the contours of his floor pan. We also provided him with installation advice on how to obtain that “perfect fit”. The customer refused to take the installation advice and requested to return for a full refund. As documented under our return policy, when there is no manufacturing issue on ACC’s part or mistake on OC Auto Carpets end, there is a 30% restocking fee and customer is responsible for the return freight; however, in the interest of customer service we offered to reduce the restocking fee to 15%. The customer refused our offer. With that being said, we don’t believe that our customer has warranted concerns. He purchased an aftermarket carpet at a great price that requires labor to install that he is not interested in doing. He made the decision to have his original carpet cleaned and dyed and now wants to return. We will gladly accept his return, but he will be responsible for the “discounted” restocking fee and return freight as there was no error on OC Auto Carpets part.
Amy, the business owner now has submitted a counter to my complaint , she has now stooped to a new low by lying about our phone conversation. She apparently will do anything to keep from refunding her customers their money on a poor quality product. I told her that I cleaned and dyed my carpet because her carpet wouldn’t fit no matter how much I trimmed it. I wanted a refund because of the poor fit and poor quality of her carpet. She did not send me a perfect fit carpet and I looked at both videos neither of witch represented the carpet she sent me. My carpet looks nothing like what was in the videos. I have pictures to prove that the carpet does not even come close to fitting. No matter what I cut off of it.
As mentioned in the first response, the videos we have listed are general installation videos for education purposes in order to understand the scope of installing an after-market carpet kit. The videos this customer viewed are not the same year, make and model vehicle as his; therefore, the carpet will not look the same. Every carpet requires a different amount of trimming and cutting, some more than others. There is no reason to lie. Customer has simply refused to attempt the installation process and is still in possession of the carpet kit to this day.
There is no reason for us to fib to our customers. Again, based on the photos that our customer provided, our manufacturer was able to determine that the customer doesn't have the carpet placed in the vehicle correctly which would make since that the carpet looks like it won't fit. If the customer wishes to take new photos of the carpet pulled forward and lined up correctly per the manufacturer's advice, we will be happy to review the photos to see if we can validate his fitment issue concerns. We are definitely willing to work with this customer if he wishes to follow the manufacturer's installation advice.
Furthermore, we have hundreds of happy and satisfied customers who order over and over again with us with no issues. Here is an email we received just this week from a customer in Oregon..."Great value - fit perfect. Good job. Thanks"
