Nu Kitchens and Floors Inc Reviews (17)

To the Revdex.com:
We have reviewed Mr***'s response and rejection, and again, his characterization of the events simply is not accurate
It
is true that Mr*** made progress payments on the project, some of
which were allocated to the custom cabinets that he orderedHowever, as
I indicated in my previous response, he has yet to pay the entire
amount due on the projectNu Kitchens has incurred nearly $15K in costs
on Mr***'s project, while Mr*** has paid only $8,
Again,
the matter can be summarized as followsMr*** signed a contract
with Nu Kitchens for a kitchen remodelingNu Kitchens trusted that Mr
*** would abide by the contract, and so ordered all parts and
materials (including the custom cabinets) for his project, incurring
about $15K in up-front costs which it would recoup in progress payments
as the project progressedBefore the work was completed, Mr***
unilaterally terminated the contract so that Nu Kitchens could not
complete the work it had startedNu Kitchens offered, time and again,
to continue work on the project and resolve any and all issues that Mr
*** had identified with the work that had already been doneBut Mr
*** insisted on terminating the project in violation of the contract
At the time of termination, Mr*** had paid only $8,in progress
paymentsSo it is actually Nu Kitchens, and not Mr***, who has
incurred damages under the agreement
Best regards,
Nu Kitchens and Floors

We called at least times to settle this matter with the client we left several messages ,(she never responded)
we
have a completion form signed by her that the job is complete and she is satisfied about the job earlier when she answered She said she will talk to her husband and will let us know.
Even now before writing this email,I called her home number and cell number to see when she is available so we can send the installer and take care of her concerns and finish everything so we can get our final payment of $but no response at all we are ready and willing to finish the minor repairs that she is concerned about but she didn't give us an answerbest regards

My name is *** ***, President of Nu Kitchens and Floors, IncI received your letter dated March 25, informing me that Mr*** *** has filed a complaint with the Revdex.com against Nu Kitchens,
and would like to provide Nu Kitchens' perspective on the matter
As Mr*** indicated in his complaint, he indeed hired Nu Kitchens to install cabinets in his kitchenUpon signing of the contract, Nu Kitchens promptly ordered the cabinets for Mr***I personally informed Mr*** that the cabinets he ordered were custom-made, and accordingly would take approximately weeks to manufacture and shipWhen the cabinets arrived, Mr*** indicated that some of the cabinets did not conform with what he originally ordered (this was partly due to a mistake on the part of the manufacturer)Nu Kitchens acknowledged this mistake, re-ordered the correct cabinets, and ordered a rush on the delivery of the new cabinets at no cost to Mr*** in a show of good faith
Nu Kitchens thereafter installed the cabinets in Mr***'s kitchenDuring the course of the project, Mr*** identified some minor issues with the cabinetsI visited the job site to inspect the cabinets and address Mr***'s concernsWe agreed on a solution, then I indicated to Mr***, personally and clearly, that Nu Kitchens would ensure that all issues he had identified would be fixed to his satisfaction by the end of the projectWe only had to wait for the cabinet manufacturer to rectify its mistakes and send the additional products necessary to complete the jobI then immediately ordered the additional necessary products and put a rush on the deliveryWhen we received the products, we notified Mr*** that the products had arrivedWe then made an appointment with Mr*** to have Nu Kitchens' personnel come to his home the following week in order to address and fix all outstanding issuesMr*** agreed at first and made an appointment with usThe day before our appointment, Mr*** changed his mind and indicated to me that he no longer wanted Nu Kitchens to finish the work on his project, and refused to pay the remaining balance owed on his agreement--even after we had ordered the necessary products to complete his jobNow he has refused to pay the remaining balance owed on his agreement.
We always strive to treat our customers fairly, and we made many efforts to resolve this matter informally with Mr***Unfortunately, Mr*** remained entrenched in his position and was determined not to pay the full amount agreed to under our contract (or the amounts that Nu Kitchens had paid out-of-pocket for the products), even if Nu Kitchens fixed the issues that Mr*** had identifiedWe even offered to show him our invoices as evidence of the costs we had incurred on his behalf (approximately $13,- $14K), and to date he has only paid $8,
Best Regards,

Contract started on 6/12/15. The deadline on the contract was 7/10/15. The job is to remodel a small bathroom (10 x 5 feet). As of today (8/3/15), job is still unfinished.

Dear [redacted]:
I called the Revdex.com on June 12,2014 to provide an update and given that the CSLB report is a 50+ page report
with color photos and the size of the CSLB report/file would not conducive to upload or fax, the Revdex.com
recommended that I mail in my response along with the supporting documentation
I have reviewed NU Kitchens response, and again NU Kitchens characterization of the events simply is not
accurate. I therefore "Reject the Offer'' from NU Kitchens dated June 10, 2014.
And, as I have indicated in my previous response, I have paid NU Kitchens $8772 for the cabinets. On
September 12,2013, NU Kitchens was paid $7,772 for the cabinets, and NU Kitchens provided me an
unconditional release and waiver for work through that date. NU Kitchens has not provided any work or
services since that date. After that date, problems and issues remained.
I hired NU Kitchens on June 11, 2013 to replace my kitchen cabinets. I too trusted NU Kitchens would
abide by the contract. But NU Kitchens breached the contract on August 12, 2013 when they started by
installing the wrong cabinets and failed to provide the cabinets per our plans and specifications. NU
Kitchens returned on September 10, 2013 (30 days later}, and despite having been provided a reasonable
amount of time and opportunity to correct and replace the defective materials, NU Kitchens again installed
the wrong cabinets, and also installed a used and damaged dishwasher cabinet. NU Kitchens also installed
a particle board cabinet despite clear language in the contract prohibiting the use of particle board, and in
addition damaged 6 cabinets. The CSLB inspector came, inspected the job and did not accept the work.
The CSLB report documents over 15 violations and estimates the cost to correct the cabinet work to be
$5456.25.
As of October 1, 2013 I was still waiting for the correct cabinets, and the cabinet issues remained. NU
Kitchens failed to perform and provided improper services and products. NU Kitchens performed
substandard work, contract violations, failed to install the products per our plans and specifications, and
repeatedly installed the wrong cabinets. NU Kitchens breached the contract and failed to correct and
replace the defective materials within a reasonable amount of time. NU Kitchens failed to cure its breach
within thirty (30) days. Because NU Kitchens breached the contract I would be terminating the contract in
accordance with the terms and provisions in the contract. I had no trust or confidence in NU Kitchens. I
was compelled to hire another contractor to complete my kitchen. I have incurred $12,428.30 in damages
under this agreement.
Despite being paid $8772 for the cabinets, the approximate monetary value of what I received is $7200. So
I have a $1,572.00 Loss of Bargain. NU Kitchens has failed to refund the difference of$1,572. The
amount of damages suffered by me is substantial, in that the $5,456,25 estimated cost to correct the cabinet
work (per CSLB report) represents about 62.2 percent of what NU Kitchens was paid for the cabinets, and
represents approximately 32% of the total contract price. The $1,572 in loss ofbargain brings the total
amount of cabinet damages to $7,028.25. The $7,028.25 represents about 800/o ofwhatNU Kitchens was
paid for the cabinets, and approximately 41% of the total contract price.
On October 22,2013, I attempted to settle this matter in good faith and NU Kitchens was offered
$1,224.00. Mr. Mazloum (NU Kitchens) refused my offer and responded by saying, "I don't need a charity
from you." Despite repeated requests for the 2 remaining cabinets (for which I had already paid for), and to
provide the order and re-order numbers for the cabinet manufacture's warranty coverage, NU Kitchens
refused. By refusing to provide the 2 remaining cabinets, NU Kitchens failed to provide the materials I
paid for (range-top cabinet, and dishwasher cabinet). Furthermore, by refusing to provide the order and reorder
numbers, NU Kitchens failed to honor its warranty. I calculated $1,224 as approximately 20% profit
on the remaining scope of work (for which I was compelled to hire another contractor).
On December 16, 2013 NU Kitchens indicated they were willing to discontinue the project and terminate
the parties agreement if in exchange, I would 1) pay $5,578 (beyond work completed), and 2) drop the
pending CSLB complaint against NU Kitchens. I found this unacceptable in that; I consider the $5,587 as
NU Kitchens requesting additional money beyond work completed, I wanted the CSLB to complete their
investigation, NU Kitchens was still refusing to provide the 2 remaining cabinets for which I had already
paid for, and NU Kitchens had breached the contract, and I had incurred substantial damages under this
agreement.
Enclosures: Contract with NU Kitchens, CSLB Report (documenting $5456.25 in damages), cancelled
checks ($1000, and $7772), Unconditional Release and Waiver, and copies of two (2) letters sent to NU
Kitchens from my attorney [redacted].
Thank you,

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. Spoke with [redacted] to ask for some one to come to our home. Business will sent a new person to evaluate kitchen and to work on repairs spoke with [redacted] at Cypress office on 10/21/2015 at 10:40 am. Hopefully everything can be resolved soon.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[This response by NU Kitchens is not true or correct.  I have paid NU Kitchens for the cabinets.  Again, we hired NU Kitchens in June 2013 and as of October, 2013 I still did not have our correct cabinets and the cabinets were not complete, the cabinet issues remained.  NU Kitchens installed the wrong cabinets from the start, and never did install the correct cabinets. NU Kitchens failed to provide the cabinets per our plans and specifications.   NU Kitchens  blaming the manufacturer for their mistakes is incredible.   When I asked NU Kitchens to explain why we owed more for the cabinets when we had already paid,  NU Kitchens refused and said' "No, we dont' do that".  I was compelled to hire another contractor.
The CSLB found enough evidence of violations and forwarded my case to Inspections department.  The CSLB hired an industry expert to come and inspect the job.  The expert came out, inspected the work and did not approve the work.  The CSLB issued a report and found that the work:   Does Not meet
accepted trade standards for good and workman-like construction....The report identifies 15 complaint items and found the items
failed to meet accepted trade standards, and/or failed to conform to plans and
specifications.  The CSLB expert estimates the approximate cost to correct
the cabinet work listed to be: $5,456.25.
The CSLB is still investigating this matter.  The CSLB complaint number is SF 2013-4788.  I will be happy to provide the Revdex.com with a copy of the CSLB's "Report of Inspection and Estimate" so that the Revdex.com can see the facts of this matter for themselves.   At the very least, NU Kitchens owes me $5,456.25 dollars as determined by the CSLB expert report.

Review: In June 2013, I hired NU Kitchens to install kitchen cabinets.I paid NU Kitchens for the cabinets in September and NU Kitchens provided an unconditional release. As of October 1, 2013 NU Kitchens had failed to install the correct cabinets. But NU Kitchens is still trying to collect an additional $$5578.00 beyond work completed. The Contractor's State License Board sent an expert investigator to inspect the cabinet work done by NU Kitchens. The CSLB report found the work "Does Not meet accepted trade standards for good and workman-like construction. The CSLB report estimates the approximate cost to correct the cabinet issues to be: $5,456.25. NU Kitchens had 15 items that failed to meet accepted trade standards and/or failed to meet our plans and specifications. NU Kitchens said that I could not terminate the contract unless I 1) paid them an additional $5578.00 and 2) dropped my complaint with the CSLB.I had to hire another contractor. NU Kitchens owes me over $17,000 in damages. I want NU Kitchens to pay me for my damages.Desired Settlement: NU Kitchens owes me over $17,000 in damages. I want NU Kitchens to pay me for my damages. I can't imagine how the Revdex.com would allow NU Kitchens to claim an A+ Revdex.com rating in their advertising. Our experience with NU Kitchens was very negative and filled with poor customer service, ordering the wrong cabinets, installing the wrong cabinets, and delays to name a few of the issues. It is my understanding that per CSLB, NU Kitchens license in on probation due to disciplinary status.

Review: We hired NU kitchen to install a new kitchen a floor. We paid an extra $400 to have the plumber move our sink over . Apparently now we have a leak and mold growing in the area were the plumber did the work. I have left NU kitchen messages and sent photos and no response. Our hinges are broken as well and they still have not been replaced. We spent over $8000 for a new kitchen and floor and within two months we are having problemsDesired Settlement: I would like them to pay for the plumber and replace the hinges. I also would like to have the damages cause by the mold and water damages fixed and paid for by NU kitchen.

Review: Let me start by saying I have special needs grandson living in my home. He has a sensitive stomach and has been ill every day for the last week and a half from eating out because I am unable to cook his normal diet. I contracted with Nu Kitchens & Floors, Inc. to put new cabinets in my kitchen. The demo crew threw away my new garbage disposal and all the pipes. I was told I should have told them it was new and they are refusing to replace it. There is a bracket that held the microwave, they threw hat away too. So how will they put my microwave back? The cabinets were installed and the drawers do not close properly. Pacific Sales delivered my new refrigerator and the housing that the refrigerator is to fit in is at least 1 inch to low on one side. I had the dish washer installed and was told by the plumbing contractor that the holes in my new counter top were not right. The contractor [redacted] told me I needed permits for GFI electric work. But I had already put in the GFI switches put in, but of course they threw those away too. I went to the City of Lynwood for the permits and they said the permits were not required. [redacted] says he pulled the permits and he is adding an additional $216.00for for permits not in the contract. There is more but in the interest of time I will say I have called many time and each time [redacted] threatens me with a lien on my home if I don't pay $1000.00. I have paid $7936.00 of the $9438.00 contracted amount. I am more than willing to pay but I have not paid the requested $1000.00 because not one has come to correct the shoddy work and [redacted] is refusing to do the work without the $1000.00. I told him no one pays for a job they are not satisfied with. The completion date was 8/11/15. They will be charging me 10% interest. What would be their incentive to make the repairs and complete the job if they are paid in full. No one does that. I am not at all sure what to do as [redacted] is really speaking to harshly.Desired Settlement: I just want the work completed correctly that I contracted for. My client is a Paralegal law clerk and she said I should have the work completed by a different contractor, keeps the receipts and take Nu Kitchens and Floors to small claims courts. It is my hope it won't come to that but something must be done soon. I am going to try to report them to the contractor licensing board too.

However, before we could do so, we learned that Ms. [redacted] had called in another contractor, and she would not allow us to return to the job site. To this day, she has not set this payment, and her $1,000.00 account balance remains unpaid.Further, and contrary to Ms. [redacted]'s allegations, Nu Kitchens was required to and did obtain permits necessary for the job. We advanced the costs of obtaining those permits, and have yet to be reimbursed by Ms [redacted].Our company continually strives to treat its customers fairly, and we have made several attempts to resolve thi matter informally with Ms. [redacted]. We hope for, and will continue to seek, an amicable resolution to this unfortunate matter, but we steadfastly maintain that our company has complied with its obligations under its agreement with Ms. [redacted].Best Regards,[redacted]

3 years ago we had our kitchen cabinets done by Nu Kitchen and floors. Upon work being completed I called location in Tustin to inquire if they would come out to check the work done. They didn't come out. Now our cabinet are sagging and my husband has tried getting in touch with Elias, the owner to inquire if the can fix it or at least provide us with manufacture so we can fix them ourselves but he keeps avoiding us. I guess we should have ask to see their contracting license. Expense lesson learned.

Contract started on 6/12/15. The deadline on the contract was 7/10/15. The job is to remodel a small bathroom (10 x 5 feet). As of today (8/3/15), job is still unfinished.
