Ruined our laundry room tile install and left us to rip it all out. No communication.
The attached pictures is what Now and Zen owner Tore Victor left me to rip out. He left Epoxy Grout on the tile Too long then just left and never returned leaving us to work for days correcting his issues and spending a lot in repairs. I lost $350 on material I purchased, $150 on clips He sold us plus much more to rip it all out just to start over!! A very expensive mistake hiring him!
He refunded $500 after many many missed calls and not responding to texts. Of course $500 did not cover the damages he caused. He left me to come home to this wreck and a mess of scrap tile, materials and garbage everywhere. He then went out of town for two weeks. Of course no communication as he was already PAID. My family trusted the wrong guy. Don't let this happen to you. Adding this comment in Revdex.com as well.
Thanks Now and Zen, your SO professional!!
Send another check to make me whole again for the damage that has been caused.
This is the response to Mr. complaint. I started Mr. project on January 2nd 2020.. His project consisted of four areas The first area Entry Foyer with 8"X 8" tiles set with a design border, see attachment. Second was on Guest Bath floor with Large Format Tiles of 12" X 24" .Third was a Guest Bath with Large Format Tiles of 12" X 24" And Fourth was a Laundry Room of Large Format Tiles12" X 24" which were changed by Ms *** from 8"X 8"Tiles.. On January 3rd I informed Mr. & Mrs *** that my brother had died in Osaka Japan, and that I was going to finish his project by January 9th because I had to be in Japan after that date for His Cremation and Kotsuage a very important part of a Japanese Funeral.. Up to the 9th of January I had text and phone calls what a great job I did and they really liked all that I installed for them of all the Tiles listed above. MR. issues with the Leveling Clipping System.. That is the only way to keep the Large Format Tiles of 12" X 24 " flat & Level on an even plane. The cost of Leveling Clips, Lft Mortor and Grout is always supplied by my customers... We are only a Labor INSTALLATION Company we don't supply any materials. On January 9th that was the day I set up to grout Mr. Four Areas described above. MR. has dogs and he wanted a grout that would stand up to accidents from dogs, and be more durable.. Part of Mr. contract was to have the said areas ready to set the Tiles he purchased. Like remove Toilets,Remove Baseboards etc.On the 9th of January I started the grout process ,with the Epoxy Grout you have only 30 minutes after its applied to clean it off .. I spread the grout as I have many many times on previous project. Not realizing that when Mr. removed the Baseboards, the Baseboard nails were not removed. That's when the problem hit me. From the 3rnd of January all that week I had my brother on my mind. And not thinking as clear as maybe I should of .. The finishing nails that were left behind more than doubled my time to clean the grout off. With a sponge and water I couldn't get an even clean next to all the tiles areas mentioned above... Then by the time I got to the Laundry Room ,the GROUT had kicked off and hardened. I tried everything I knew to remove the grout but when its hardened its done.. I feel bad this happened.. But I gave Mr .*** a date to start January 2nd and he made provisions for me to start that day.. And I didn't want to Cancel. ( Maybe I Should of ) I've been in Business in Little Tokyo, California, & Kyoto Japan. Since 1989 with a Bachelors in Landscape Architecture & Stone Hardscapes. Nowandzenstoneandhardscapes.com. Or on my *** Business page under Now and Zen Contemporary Stone,Tile & Hardscapes,, On January 9th at approx 4:15 pm. I called Mr *** to discuss what had happened and how sorry I was that this occurred, mentioning the nails left in the Baseboards and explaining that's why it happened.. That no I wasn't rushing etc... In that phone call I offered to Demo the Large Format Tiles in the Laundry Room and Redo at my time & expense. When I return from Japan.. Mr. words were it is what it is. I apologized again ,planning to address this when I returned to the US. On January 20th.. I live One and a half hours from Mr ***.. Mr. decided to take it upon himself to Demo and remove this himself.. And that's where we are now ... I didn't respond to a text or phone call because I was in Osaka Japan. No I didn't just go out of town as Mr. stated like on a pleasure trip or a vacation. MR. knew where I was going because on January 3rd he knew of the passing of my brother. On all the four areas mentioned above I charged a Labor Charge of $500.00 per area . No materials.. On my arrival back to FLORIDA on January 16th I saw Mr. text ... I reimbursed Mr. His full Labor charge he paid me of $500.00 for the said Laundry Room..I spent 3 days on his Laundry Room Setting his Large Format Tile the way they should have been set.. The Leveling Clipping System, his LFT Mortor was supplied by him just like the other three areas. As mentioned above I was going to purchase his New Tile,Leveling Clips and supply my labor to demo and redo his Laundry Room..the $500.00 covered his replacement of material & clips.. I I'm really sorry this happened in all my years of Work I've never had a problem or complaint... My head just wasn't right with all that was going on in Japan with my Brother .. I apologize for this

I spent $600 on labor, $350 on materials, $200 on clipping system and other materials then had to spend $625 to rip it all out then purchase all the materials again. Your $500 refund did not near cover the damages left. I understand the owner had personal loss but it's unreasonable for the business to leave a family in the situation we were left. He rushed the job to disaster then dropped everything leaving materials everywhere in the home and dried up mortar covering the new materials. The owner blamed that I (Homeowner) did not remove the nails from the baseboards properly but I just did what he asked and he could have made sure the area was to his liking before he began. He left our family home a wreck and it was very difficult and expensive to recover from. Per the owner I was supposed to wait for two weeks in hopes he returned and what just don't use that area of the home? Yes I said "it is what it is" until I arrived home to see the extent of the damages left and realized what had to be done to resolve it and the costs associated. Also the business stopped taking my calls after they created this disaster then hastily left! Again I'm sorry for loss but the business could have refunded the real costs involved in fixing the disaster left. Our family took a huge loss in money and time cleaning up what the business owner left us to contend with. The business owner should do the right thing and refund to compensate what his mistake ultimately cost.
