NOVA Birth Partners

I had signed up for 120 hours with NOVA Birth Partners for Post Partum Doula Services for the duration of my maternity leave. The owner Faith at first promised that they would take good care of me and that I should prepay for the hours to guarantee availability for the doulas. I had my first doubts with her services when I emailed her initially while pregnant and she sent me a very inconsiderate email saying that the doulas shouldn’t be expected to use stairs (even though I live in a townhouse) and that doulas will only work morning hours even though I signed up for different shifts. When I asked to cancel back then she changed her tone and told me she would put me touch with another doula. After I delivered, the doula I had originally spoken to was not available and they send another doula to my house. The doula sat around all day while I cleaned up around the house (which according to the contract doula should be helping me with). So then I called again to cancel, the owner pushed to come to my house and then at my house started to lecture me on everything I was doing wrong and made me cry. She then told me she would send a new doula and a lactation consultant free of charge I decided to give that a try. The new doula was better and I liked her work but the lactation consultant did not help at all.

2 weeks ago, I inquired about unused hours and Faith added charges for her house visit as well as the lactation consultant which she had said would be free of charge. She had also miscalculated the hours that had been used so far and when I asked she started comparing me to other families and how I m the one who doesn’t trust her while other families do. Still I asked the doula to come for remainder of the 51 hours left on the contract but the doula was not available so I requested a refund for the unused hours($1785). The owner is refusing to give a refund. She has been saying hurtful things and giving me a run around via email.
