Review: NOVA Bicycle Doctor offered a major tune-up for bicycles which I purchased for $40 through [redacted]. I spoke to [redacted] and [redacted] (husband and wife who run the "company." [redacted] is the mechanic). I told them that my bike and Metro are my sole means of transportation and that I was coming a considerable distance to use their services.I brought the bike over on 3/8. [redacted] said he would prioritize my bike. I told him that the bike chain needed to be replaced as well as the attached parts as I had some slippage when I was riding. I gave him my phone # and e-mail address as contact info, both on-line, on the phone and on paer in his dining room. (The 'business' is run out of their kitchen, dining room and garage). On 3/10, [redacted] sent e-mail that bike was ready. On 3/11, I told [redacted] I would pick up my bike and requested that [redacted] be there to address any questions or concerns. She told me that [redacted] would meet me at the 'storage center' at another location. I went to that location ([redacted]) and there was no answer at the door. I called the NOVA Bicycle Doctor phone # and [redacted] said that she would call [redacted] to "come downstairs." About 10 minutes later [redacted] drove up with his daughter. He brought me my bike, telling me that he replaced my front brake pads (he charged $18 for a repair I could have done myself for $4.00). I hopped on my bike AND IT WAS UNRIDEABLE! I was flabbergasted and he said the bike won't work because he didn't replace the parts that were needed for it to operate and ONLY OFFERED TO PUT THE OLD CHAIN BACK ON.I couldn't believe he destroyed my bike and was charging me for it. I refused to leave so he drove me, my bike and his daughter back to his home ("shop") and then I realized he didn't have the right parts and didn't know what he was doing. The only way for me to get home was for him to put used parts on my bike. Bike doesn't ride. I had to pay him an additional $84 to get bike released. He is not responding to e-mail. He is a fraud.Desired Settlement: NOVA Bicycle Doctor is an unscrupulous operation and needs to be shut down. I need a refund in the amount of $84 so I can go to a repudable mcechanic to get the work done.
