Northwest Pole Structures contracted with [redacted] to build a Pole building to attach to their existing detached Garage.? I understand that [redacted] has had some experience in the permitting process.? I suspect that the process has changed, with Pierce county specifically, multiple times since her experienceThe code books that Pierce county uses are several inches thick, all departments have their own book and occasionally the county will intake a permit application and then later reference a new or existing code that will affect the size or placement of the building.? This permit was reviewed by fire, biology, building and site development[redacted] submitted this complaint after I was leaving town and I would of appreciated the opportunity to resolve this with them in person when I returned.Northwest currently contracts a service which charges $to create a site plan of the proposed building property, fill out the needed paperwork and submit the building plans as a packet to pierce county.? We have returned their deposit minus our costsThe code information was not made available to our service at the time of submitting the K***’s permit.? We are not able to submit without engineeringThe ***’s were charged for the permitted plans and calculations and the permit service which was performedWe initially held off running the permit until we made contact with the county and checked the building setbacks.? This is the first time in our history that we have come across not being able to do a project because of this particular codeThe codes are different for each city and county and they are ever changing to the point the county permit tech’s need to reference them because they cannot keep up on all of the changes for the different zoning areas.? When we, through experience, see that there may be a problem building a building on a property, we offer to go through the submittal standard process with the county for an additional charge.? We did bring this option up with [redacted] but did not believe it was necessary based on our permit services research and our experienceI have asked for and received a $reduction in fees from our permit service which I will return to the ***’s on top of what they have had returned to them.Permit running is listed on the contractIt is initialed by ***__X__NORTHWEST is applying for building permit on behave of the owner____ OWNER is applying for building permitOur contract addresses this situation that if we are not able obtain a building permit that we refund any remainder of the buyer’s deposit minus costs and a 1.5% admin fee.? In this case we did not charge the admin feeOur permit service will be returning all of the submitted county permit information to the ***’s for their viewing including the engineered plans and calculationsWe feel bad that this has upset our customers and that they are not able to build the size building that they wantedI have asked for and received a $reduction in fees from our permit service which I will return to the ***’s on top of what they have had returned to them
