Review: I hired Northwest Construction and Design to do a basement remodel and finish up a bathroom that already had been plumbed in. I had problems right of the bat. The first part of the contract I noticed many problems with the way they conducted themselves. They subcontracted the mud and tape of the walls. One day the worker had his very young (around 9 yrs old) be in the basement with him and the construction site without my permission. That worker then dumped out his muddy water onto my front lawn making a huge dead spot. There are many more instances of poor workmanship, but I will not concentrate on the main issues. They enclosed a sump pump in my closet with out proper ventilation and somehow someone tightened down the valve. Well, I had the valve break and had a water leak. I asked them to come back out and make a bigger access panel so a actual human can fit in the space to fix the problem. The access panel they put in was 14" X 14'". I bought a larger panel from Lowes and they did put that in. The paint in the bathroom is very poorly done, I can see drywall through it. Also, one of the walls of the shower bows out. [redacted] (the main guy) said, yeah, its like that because of the pipe. That needs to be fixed and I sent numerous texts to [redacted] (the PM) and to [redacted]. No response and no calls back. I have been trying ever since they were done with the project. I addressed these problems during the final work through and they said it will be taken care of. Nope, its not. The shower pan doesn't drain very well. I have standing water every time I use the shower. [redacted] came out and redid a small section and told me nothing else could be done because its a big shower. This is not true. They need to redo the shower pan to ensure the proper drainage. Also, the grout has crumbled away from the shower valve. The paint job on the whole entire project is sub par. I constantly told them I was not happy with it. They came back out a couple of times to touch it up. It doesn't look any better. I also told them I wanted the doors to be painted with a semi gloss paint. Something that you would use on a door that dirt and smudges wipe off easily. Their solution was to come back out, when they did the shower floor, and use acrylic spray paint. I can see the lines of the paint marks from the spray can. They also never sealed the grout and its already turning colors. I clean the shower every week. They had dumped concrete residue into my drive way and on my property and didn't flush it away with any water. They had a cleaning crew come in and those individuals broke two items and tried to hide it. Their construction practices are sub par and I was told by [redacted], that they have a warranty on their work. He too is ignoring my texts and calls.Desired Settlement: I want the job done right. The bathroom paint needs another coat or two, grout needs fixed in the shower, the floor of the shower needs to be sloped right in order to drain properly, grout needs to be sealed, fix wall that is bowed out by pipe in the wall and paint touched up on doors and walls. If they cannot do the job, I would expect to be compensated to find another contractor to do the job right and have better customer service .
This company is exemplary from start to finish. From [redacted] who came out to our home in a snow storm to bring us a sample of the product and he then had close correspondence and phone calls with us while we were coordinating the job from Tampa, Fl. His estimate was fair and precise. [redacted], the project manager contacted me before the job to introduce himself and to let me know what time the crew would arrive and that he was available at any time if he was needed.
The crew arrived: [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted] were the best. On site, on time and worked till dark, leaving the job site picked up and put away after each day. Their work is absolutely perfect, and the seams we have are few because of the product [redacted] we used. Had lots of discussions with [redacted] during the process and he was there to answer all my questions. This crew worked hard and long and I would recommend this company to anyone. It was the first time that we have had workmen to the house where we have not had a single issue of any kind. They even painted the stringers on the stairs which we thought we would have to do. Thank you for the best job EVER!!!! Such a hard working crew of guys A+
Northwest construction & design is an excellent company that strives to fully satisfy. This was the only company that truly listened to my desires and also went out of there way to explain all possible options and limitations that could lie ahead. They have a trustworthy, courteous and hardworking of craftsman. The end was everything and more than I was hoping for. After painstakingly debating which remodeling company we needed to do our kitchen, through all the reviews and estimates given to us to choose from, we finally agreed and settled for Northwest Construction & Design! Best decision of our lives! Because of there professionalism and there amazing ability to detail, aside from a couple of hiccups (all projects of this scale will have them) they exceeded all of our expectations. You made our family happy and proud of our new kitchen! Thank you!
