We are acively working with our customer in getting the source of the leak identified I missed a few communications from the nhkmeowner in early January due being in Seattle visiting my in-laws for the holidaysUpon returning to Columbus I contacted himTo discuss antkme to come out and inspect the leak It appeared to be coming in near the chimneyWe removed the shingles surrounding the chimney , inspected the decking (which appeared to be dry) and replaced all the flashing surrounding the chimney Upon inspecting the chimney ( which is stucco) we noticed the wood of the chimney has been deteriorated and shows signs that water has been coming in for some time I contacted a contractor that is more familiar with chlmneys and he recommends that the chimney should be water sealed and the chimney cap should be taken off and re-aligned The contractor believes the source of water is coming in through the top of the Chimney capWe are currently in communication with the homeowner in regards to getting the chimney fixed
I have contacted both my insurance company and a second roof contractor. Both persons upon inspection believe that the leak is coming from the valley area where the roof lines meet. I am in the process of having this fixed, neither persons believe it is a chimney issue. There was no water leak with the Chimney prior to having the roof replaced, and the roof and chimney were inspected when we bought the house and both were fine. Once the roof is repaired, I am having the carpet cleaned and possibly replace and the room painted
