You need to read this entire review of Spectrum Painting (invoice says in Grapevine, but I have seen a few other addresses online, so I’m not sure if he changes his info to avoid the bad reviews).
Totally unprofessional. Wayne promises the moon, and says how “everything will look great, just you wait, you’ll be so pleased”. Then when it comes down to it, he is a “know it all” and very difficult to communicate with. At the beginning of the job, I told him exactly what I expected and wanted done, we were painting the entire inside of my home and fixing a lot of texture. Through the job, I noticed the guys were not doing what I expected, they said Wayne didn’t tell them to do what I was asking. It wasn’t their fault, there was just gross miss-communication going on. Carlos and his crew did a good job, but ONLY because I was there every step of the way asking questions and giving instructions, all while Wayne would stop by the job, run in the house and throw out some unorganized instructions, then buzz off to another job. I felt sorry for Carlos that he had to deal with him. The guys had to come back and fix several issues after the final walk through. Wayne came in and said “my expectations were way too high” ummm, what? I felt like a joke was being played on me. I kept at him to fix the issues, so he finally agreed and told his guys to just get it done, all while acting like he was doing me a favor.
So, he just picked up the last payment today. Originally asked me to leave it in the mailbox. I said I wanted invoice first, so I sent him a pic of my check and asked him to send me a pic of the invoices he planned on leaving in the mailbox. He refused, and said I shouldn’t treat him like a shyster. Really, well, he was acting like one! So…he had to walk to my front door to get the last payment because I wanted to personally accept the invoice… he said “you’re a control freak”, I responded with how unprofessional he was acting, and he responded with “I make more money than you do!”.
Crazy right? What a bad experience. I thought I should share the specific details to save someone else from the drama, and a contractor that takes the fun out of remodeling!
