Gentleman came in my shop and asked for a free diagSaid the [redacted] (gearbox) had just been rebuiltWe told him to take it back to whoever rebuilt it and it would probably be covered by warrantyThen we found out that the previous owner was the one who had it rebuiltRechecked customers vehicle, found internal [redacted] codesExplained before we did anything to the transmission we should check out the transfercase to make certain there weren't additional problemsTransferase checked okay, explained to customer we needed to do a rebuild Which he approvedCustomer returned with a noise problem in the front differential we could not confirm the noise at that timeCustomer returned and said the noise was when the vehicle was in two wheel driveAfter checking again we found it to be grindingThe differential is a fully enclosed unit and cannot really be rebuilt and the cost of a new one would be highly expensiveWe explained we would try to find a good used unitAfter calling numerous places we found none to be availableWe gave the customer our contacts and asked him to keep calling hoping maybe one would become availableWe were not made aware of any transmission leaks
