The Contractor did not comply with the contract. Total contract was for $5000.00. They required and was paid $2500.00 February 8, 2020. The contract originally called for 3 walls but was changed to 1 wall and a short 1-2 block high distance in the front yard which was agreed upon by both of us. He measured wrong and they ordered 1 pallet of stones too many which they refuse to return to the supplier. The extra expense for their error is the cost of the blocks, $180.00, non return of the pallets $105.00 and a restock fee of 25 percent. I paid for all materials and they were responsible for labor. The wall blocks have been on the street since they were delivered. So far the only part of the contract that has been completed is the one block wall which we both agreed on. Also part of the fence. The fence consisted of a base of 2 rows of concrete blocks with posts set in concrete. They poured the concrete in mid winter and it froze that night. All the blocked cracked. The fence has not been completed. The next large expense is my sprinkler system. I had a perfectly good sprinkler system and when they were digging the trench for the wall they chopped both lines going to the front yard. Before digging, I showed them where the lines were. I have since had a bid on fixing my sprinklers which was $800.
They were to reposition 24 12 x 12 walkway stones and build 3 steps with materials I already had. The walkway was so uneven I redid this myself. The stone steps caved in and had to be re done for the second time. With the rains we had, it washed the sandy soil out and as I stepped on one step it caved in again and damaged my right knew. After X-rays and an MRI I was told I had chronic tearing of the medial meniscus and other damage and I needed surgery. The next day they re-did the 3 steps for the third time and with the rains they caved in again. They are still incomplete. Other than the completion of the wall nothing else has been done. The last time they were here was June 3, 2020.
