I am a Canadian who ships to the US. I tried to make a purchase at *** , shipping to the US which is advertised as free. I tried to do so and an extra charge of $35 was added to the bill even though still shipping within USA. I did not proceed with the purchase. I phoned the store at *** to make a phone purchase. I asked for a receipt and was eventually mailed a receipt. On this receipt it said no returns, whereas the website says returns within 14 days. The sales associate had said nothing about this. I emailed the store about 5 hours after the purchase with the re: heading showing time-sensitive and asked them to reverse/void the charge and cancel the *** pick-up. They said they would do so. I asked for confirmation and got none. In the meantime, the webstore sent me a 15% code. I told them they could apply that to the item I already bought and send it as usual, since that seemed like the least amount of trouble on all of our parts. They declined, saying it wasn't possible to apply an internet code by phone, but in fact that is not true -- the initial phone order had applied a 10% code. Because they declined the simplest solution, I emailed both the store and the website to go ahead and process the reversal/void as usual. I asked for confirmation and got none. I waited a couple of days and got a notice the *** was cancelled. I still had no news about the reversal/void but I assumed it was done. Today I logged into my visa account and found the charge still there, and Nili L went ahead and posted it after I had cancelled the order due to misinformation on their part. Because of the exchange rate being different for 'buying' and 'selling' - i.e. purchases and refunds, I was adamant I wanted the order voided which they did not do. Because of their inaction, I now will have these extra charges+ another 3.5% foreign transaction fee on a $625USD dress. The delivery was not made, but the charge remained, and processed in a way I'm out-of-pocket.
Customer satisfaction is important to us. We are happy to refund the customer the additional fees charged by the customer's credit card company. We have requested verification of the total in fees the customer received so that we an issue a refund for the amount. The customer has replied that they will provide this to us. We are now just waiting for the customer's reply.
