NH Certificate Service

This company is running a clever scam. It sends letters to newly-formed businesses offering to obtain "your elective NH Certificate of Status" for you for a fee of $87.25. First, a business does not HAVE to have this certificate--it's elective. Second, if you need a Certificate of Status for a business loan or other purpose, you can get one from the Secretary of State for $7.

I was in the process of registering my business with the state of NH. I received a letter from NH Certificate Service requesting $87.25 to receive my certificate. I mailed the letter back with a check. I later found out it was a fraudulent company scamming people. Then I received the same letter again. I would like to recover my money. I called the number and I was told to send the certificate back and they will refund my money. I never received a certificate from them, nor did I want to do business with them.
