Arlene ***' complaint should not be a complaint at all. Our office is a small business that does all of our billing and insurance in house. Our office policy is to bill primary insurance only. That has been our business practice since we opened over years ago. There are
many offices that do not bill any insurance, however, we do bill the primary insurance for our patients as a courtesy to them. We were under the assumption that *** was her primary, which is the case with 99% of our patients. We billed them, and when it was denied due to them NOT being Arlene's primary insurance we kindly resubmitted it to *** for her. *** did pay a portion of both exams that Arlene had at our office. At that point the balance due is the patient's to pay. She was informed that if she paid the balance due we could give her all the information necessary to submit it to *** (her secondary insurance), to which they will then reimburse her directly. She became very loud during our phone conversation and refused to pay for anything else before hanging up on me. She will want to see a different doctor in the future who does bill secondary insurance to make sure she is happy
