New York Surgical Associates Reviews (2)

I would like to file a complaint against the office staff of DrThomasine F*, of NY Surgical, based on Staten Island, NY My negative experiences w/this incompetent staff date back to 2014, when their inability to provide me with authorization number for test prevented me from having it done As a matter of fact, I still have not had the MRI done, since it has taken them months to produce an authorization number But I get ahead of myself Please allow me to detail instances, all occurring in that have given me reason to contact the Revdex.com
I went for a routine ***, which I was told by doctors at the facility, that everything appeared normal I expected as much, as DrF* informed me that an MRI would be more conclusive for me I then get a call from her staff; the doctor needs to see me, & it is urgent It was a Monday afternoon, & I was scheduled 1st thing the following Monday, at 9am I told my boss I would be late for work, & did my level best to remain calm for an entire week After all, I had been told by the seemingly credible doctors at the facility that everything was clear I waited mins to be seen, at which point some assistant comes in to ask if I had been feeling alright, & inquiring why I made the appointment Then the doctor comes in, & again, I am questioned as to why I made an appointment so soon after my recent visit I informed the doctor that her staff had called me, telling me it was urgent, & that I needed to come in right away The doctor exits the exam room & returns a few moments later Her staff CALLED THE WRONG PERSON I was NOT the person who needed to urgently see the doctor They wasted my time, cost me pay at work, not to mention the emotional stress I was under the entire preceding week I am at a loss to clearly convey how I felt at that moment, but I sincerely hope they eventually contacted the proper patient & that she is doing well
About weeks ago, I receive a text from a friend, who also sees a doctor in that practice They’re talking about you, she tells me She heard them talk about patient who was self pay, which my friend knows me to be for that doctor, & apparently they were giving my information to someone over the phone My friend heard my full first and last name spelled out, my insurance provider, & my insurance ID number She was sitting in the waiting room Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t there privacy laws in place that prevent such information from easily being heard & possibly written down by room full of waiting patients???
Now it is time for that MRI I’ve needed since December, Erica, from the doctor’s staff, called me earlier in July & let me know she was in the process of getting the authorization number for me Evidently, I had gone to the doctor’s office on March **, 2015, so I can only wonder at the lengthy process required for authorization numbers (It should be noted that the representative at the authorization company told me it doesn’t take four months to get an authorization number She told me it is a matter of picking up the phone, & then it takes a few days.) Two days after Erica’s call, she calls again & tells me I am authorized to get the MRI done at Location X I asked her why I couldn’t visit Location Y, since the script the doctor provided was for Location Y Erica told me Location X was site approved by insurance company A day or so later, someone from Location Y calls me & rattles off the same authorization number They have approval for me to get the test done there I call the doctor’s office back, & Erica tells me I will have to call insurance company myself to clarify I called my insurance company, but it turns out, I need to speak to someone at the company that provides the authorization numbers Don’t you think the staff at the doctor’s office should know that?? After minutes on the phone with a patient, helpful representative, she informed me that the notes in her system indicated that Erica, from the doctor’s office, called on July *** to change the location to Location X Why would she do that when my script from doctor clearly referenced Location Y? Why would she take it upon herself to change the location? And why didn’t she tell me herself that she had done that?
The doctor is wonderful, but I hope the events I have detailed here shed some light on the incompetent, unprofessional nature of her staff

I would like to file a complaint against the office staff of Dr. Thomasine F[redacted], of NY Surgical, based on Staten Island, NY. My negative experiences w/this incompetent staff date back to 2014, when their inability to provide me with authorization number for test prevented me from having it done. As a matter of fact, I still have not had the MRI done, since it has taken them 4 months to produce an authorization number. But I get ahead of myself. Please allow me to detail 3 instances, all occurring in 2015 that have given me reason to contact the Revdex.com.

I went for a routine [redacted], which I was told by doctors at the facility, that everything appeared normal. I expected as much, as Dr. F[redacted] informed me that an MRI would be more conclusive for me. I then get a call from her staff; the doctor needs to see me, & it is urgent. It was a Monday afternoon, & I was scheduled 1st thing the following Monday, at 9am. I told my boss I would be late for work, & did my level best to remain calm for an entire week. After all, I had been told by the seemingly credible doctors at the facility that everything was clear. I waited 45 mins to be seen, at which point some assistant comes in to ask if I had been feeling alright, & inquiring why I made the appointment. Then the doctor comes in, & again, I am questioned as to why I made an appointment so soon after my recent visit. I informed the doctor that her staff had called me, telling me it was urgent, & that I needed to come in right away. The doctor exits the exam room & returns a few moments later. Her staff CALLED THE WRONG PERSON. I was NOT the person who needed to urgently see the doctor. They wasted my time, cost me pay at work, not to mention the emotional stress I was under the entire preceding week. I am at a loss to clearly convey how I felt at that moment, but I sincerely hope they eventually contacted the proper patient & that she is doing well.

I asked her why I couldn’t visit Location Y, since the script the doctor provided was for Location Y. Erica told me Location X was site approved by insurance company. A day or so later, someone from Location Y calls me & rattles off the same authorization number. They have approval for me to get the test done there. I call the doctor’s office back, & Erica tells me I will have to call insurance company myself to clarify. I called my insurance company, but it turns out, I need to speak to someone at the company that provides the authorization numbers. Don’t you think the staff at the doctor’s office should know that?? After 31 minutes on the phone with a patient, helpful representative, she informed me that the notes in her system indicated that Erica, from the doctor’s office, called on July [redacted] to change the location to Location X. Why would she do that when my script from doctor clearly referenced Location Y? Why would she take it upon herself to change the location? And why didn’t she tell me herself that she had done that?

The doctor is wonderful, but I hope the 3 events I have detailed here shed some light on the incompetent, unprofessional nature of her staff.
