I have to complain about the quality of online banking with South State. As a former customer of First Federal Bank, I cautiously rolled into the merger with First Federal to become South State Bank. There has been more than one problem with online banking, especially 'Bill Pay,' which has been shut down for several days on different occasions since July (four months.)
The website is not easily navigated with the SSB design. I have finally gotten used to the many tabs to find the information I need. I am not confident with the transfer process, the bill pay either. I have acclimated to some extent, but continue to deal with being 'shut out' of some features periodically.
I miss the nearby branch during the consolidation of buildings as well. Some of the personnel are located at other branches, but I do not feel the connection with the banking staff yet. Though much of banking has gravitated to online transactions, relationships are still important. My experience with the online presence leaves me guarded. The relationships are not the same as before, but still essential to my customer satisfaction. I hope this is another temporary blip following the merger.
