I ran into the manager of this Chinatown Express in front of my house on Thursday afternoon, August 14, 2014, approximately 2:45 pm. He parked his car in my neighbor's driveway and was placing a folded Chinatown Express menu on my mailbox. I was walking out to my car. I confronted him and asked him not to do that. I told him my community and the street were private property and he needed to leave my neighbor's driveway and not trash our mailboxes with his menus. He got in his car and drove off. A few minutes later, I drove around my community. It is a private community, a private street with warnings about the property at the guardhouse, such as "No Trespassing" and "No Soliciting" signs. I met the manager on the street he had recruited two other people to help (one a minor) and was still distributing the menus. When I told him again he was on private property, he responded by over and over saying, "I don't know." I told him once more he was trespassing on private property, soliciting our neighborhood and trashing our mailboxes. I asked him to pick up the menus and leave the premises. I later learned that he had not left and had indeed left Chinatown Express menus at every house. So, this afternoon, I went out to his business and asked politely to speak to the manager. After waiting 5 minutes for the boss, the same man whom I had met in our neighborhood appeared and said he was the manager. He admitted to being the same man who had trespassed in my community leaving his menus. When I asked him again if he understood that it was private property, he began to get short with me and rude. He didn't want anything to do with the conversation, said several times he didn't know who his boss was, didn't even know his name and walked away from me to the back. I leaned over the counter and asked him to come back and talk to me, but he refused.Desired SettlementSomebody (maybe the police) needs to let this guy know what the laws are concerning private property and trespass. He certainly did not want to hear it from me. If he wants to advertise his business, he needs to do it legally. He has no regard for laws. He needs to stay out of our community.
