Complaint[redacted] They charged for what I was told was "total damage coverage" - then later pointed to the fine print in the contract claiming this was NOT insurance (after I was told that it was) - that it would not totally cover me for an accident that was not my fault (which it didn't), and then proceeded to charge my credit card against my wishes/instructions. [redacted]Desired SettlementI wish a refund of the unauthorized debit to my credit card of $464.42Business Response [redacted] signed the rental agreement agreeing to the loss damage waiver with the $500 deductible on July 14, 2016. Unfortunately there was an incident which caused damage to the car during the rental period. As per the signed rental document, the damage under $500 was charged to her credit card. She was provided with all documents to submit to her insurance company for reimbursement.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not accept the response from the business. My points are as follows. Firstly, the loss damage waiver was misrepresented in a deceptive fashion as "peace of mind" for the renter when in fact it is a disguised method through which the rental agency may debit the unwitting consumer at will. The waiver is misrepresented as "extra coverage" which most reasonable people would interpret as being insurance, when it is not. I recognize their documentation, in the fine print, states this, but the customer service agents misrepresent it. The second part to my complaint that has not been addressed is the misleading and deceptive response I received from the business when I reported the incident in a timely fashion. I was informed that there was "no problem" and that the business would look after everything, when in fact there was a big problem and the business was going to look after the business, not me the consumer. An adjuster was assigned to the claim with no input or communication with myself. Since the intention was to debit my credit card without my consent or permission or consultation, it is only right and proper that the customer should have input into this process, and the first I heard of the process was when I was summarily presented with a damage estimate I had no way of knowing was accurate or competitive, and revised credit card statement and the unauthorized charges within. In my communications with them I had expressly forbid them to debit my credit card without my consent, and they went ahead and did this anyways. [redacted]
