I received money to mystery shop. I completed 1st assignment. 2nd assignment identified the scam by my bank.
Looking to supplement income, searched the web. Looked into the business on line, seemed ok. Provided my information, no bank account or social security number, but address and phone number and age I believe. Most communication was through an SMS only number XXX-XXX-XXXX. Two e-mails were included in the printed instructions received with the check: ***@job4u.com and ***@job4u.com that was used only once to communicate the check had been deposited.
Assignment Number 1
Received via FedEx a $2,560 check 10/15/2019, and deposited same 10/25,2019. Took allocated salary $260, took gas allowance $27, and on 10/26/2019 did the assigned Walmart mystery shopping $32.18. Purchased from that same Walmart 3 blank moneygram money orders 10/28/2019: numbers XXXXXXXXXXX, XXXXXXXXXXX, and XXXXXXXXXXX each for $676 totaling $2,028 with an additional $3 service charges bringing the total to $2,031. As directed they were sent via UPS, tracking number 1Z0E7RXXXXXXXXXXXX, that same day to Nicole *** 5 Treasure Dr, *** GA XXXXX-XXXX, no telephone number provided, to be delivered overnight to arrive by 8:00 am $97.17. Follow up confirmed delivery.
Assignment Number 2
Received via FedEx a $2,560 check 10/30/2019. While depositing the check this same day, the teller informed me that this check would cover our overdrawn amount as soon as it cleared. Bells, Whistles, Alarms went off. The first check received was "altered"! Through the help of First Midwest Bank Branch Manager Angelina *** XXX-XXX-XXXX and Miguel at Walmart XXX-XXX-XXXX and hardly any cohearnt help from MoneyGram either by phone, chat, or web site, the 3 moneygrams were able to be "replaced" for a fee of $201. The 3 moneygrams purchased for $2,031 will be replaced by three worth $1,830!
Once the air print wireless printer is set up, the entire text stream of communications with this outfit can be forwarded if it would help. It includes pictures of instruction page and receipts.
The MasterCard Debit card was cancelled today out of an abundance of concern.
The $2,560 minus the $1,830 to be received from the "replaced" moneygrams. That amounts to $730. And who knows what fees and charges are ahead for the overages. This embarrassing scam was only unearthed this morning.
