Used unlicensed subs in violation of contract. Poor quality, unsafe work & damage unwilling to fix. Took money & abandoned project. Req.permit not pul
We hired My Construction Group to remodel a basement & bathroom. Company used unlicensed subs for nearly all work in violation of contract. Collected money before work completed, before some materials ordered. Caused significant damage to subfloor that required us (homeowners) to pay out of pocket to repair; initially agreed to cover some costs but reneged. Did not pull required electrical & building permits in violation of contract, CSLB licensing and California Law. Eventually pulled electrical after work completed (unsafely and by unlicensed subcontractors) and failed upon city inspection. Hired outside electrician who made reports, took pictures and attested that work had been done in an "unsafe manner" by My Construction Group. Further city inspections failed mechanical & electrical inspections; required building permit STILL not pulled. Refuses to fix code violations, safety issues, or complete work. Threatening liens and lawsuits unless we pay him money he is demanding for unsafe and uncompleted work.
Return of all money paid by us for unlicensed work. Return of all money paid by us for uncompleted work. Reimbursement for all damages and out of pocket expenses.
and *** sign contract with "my construction group" saying exactly what will be done and how the payment schedule. *** was so happy from Bathroom and exterior wall and paint and recess light that she even ask from us to add more work. It's wired if our work was so bad why she ask to add more work( I have text message she sent about how great it's look). *** was so happy from the tile work that she sent text that it's look great, but not yet paid, *** and *** don't want to pay its very simple. We pass final inspection. I have copy of permit . But to avoid paying again *** and *** order another inspector and off-curse not me or my guy know about .after we try to get paid again and again we decide to post lien on the property . Again *** and *** find another way to blackmail me and my co by posting lies in Revdex.com, houzz, Angie's list any social media there is typical case of slander ( damage my name and company). I am licence bond Insured contractor ,so I really don't know why *** and *** saying what they say. I guess it's cheaper to write then pay their debt.we are talking with the city about the false inspection that done not by our co by *** and *** by themself .off course If need to be fix something we are more then happy to fix . But customer need to pay for work that done . We are talking with the inspector about the unknown inspection to understand why was inspection after we pass final . Message to *** and *** you need to pay for work that done.I trust god to get work your blackmail will not work.pls post picture of your bathroom of your basement, exterior wall to show the unfinished work. It's intres to see. Picture batter then words

*** "***" *** of My Construction Group, Inc. is not being honest. The permit inspection has not passed. We have paid him for work that he has not yet completed (our payments to him have totaled $***, much of it for work that is not complete and still requires corrections). He had not begun the recessed light installation when the upstairs lights were added, so it is not true that we added those because we were already happy with the previous lighting work. *** has not addressed that his work has been done by unlicensed, unqualified subcontractors, that he has failed the permit inspections, that he has failed to obtain legally required permits for work he has done, and that much of the work on the contract remains undone or requires significant corrections.
Our complaint with My Construction Company has not been resolved. The job is not complete, and *** (owner and CEO) has not agreed to address all of the remaining incomplete or unlicensed and faulty work. His response contains both false and misleading representations, including, for example, about the status of the permit, which has not passed *** mechanical, or building code. At this point, we have paid him more than what is owed on the project, after deducting for work he failed to do and for documented damage he caused to our basement. And his claim of blackmail is ridiculous. In fact, after his response to the Revdex.com, he sent us a message saying he would remove the lien if we removed our consumer reviews.
We have sent him a letter detailing incomplete work including: electrical that was deemed unsafe by the licensed subcontractor electrician he eventually hired after weeks of us requesting him to do so, electrical that has not passed permit inspections, mechanical that has not passed permit inspections, work done without necessary permits, including building work (stairs), ceiling damage that remains from work his electrician conducted, un-installed and abandoned materials, including a door, light switches, and wireless devices to control light switches, and work done by unlicensed subcontractors. He refuses to provide proof of licensing for the subcontractors he hired to do work, which is in direct violation of his licensing obligations and our contract. He claimed to city inspectors that he only replaced a few of the exterior stairs in an attempt to avoid obtaining a building permit, when in reality his worker did a total replacement of all the exterior stairs, and did so not up to code. Inexplicably, despite official City of San Jose documentation on the permit, he continues to say that the permit showing that the work didn't pass electrical, mechanical, and building code is somehow "fraudulent." He had previously agreed to deduct from the contract floor installation that he did not do and asked us to find outside contractors to do, but now refuses to do so (we paid outside contractors to repair the damage he caused to our subfloor, and to properly install flooring that he failed to install after two attempts). The pictures he sent of our basement floor are misleading in this regard, as he only patched the wall, while we paid out of pocket for another contractor to redo the floor and install flooring and baseboards.
In addition to all this, he has threatened to sue us for leaving factual reviews on Yelp, Angie's List and Houzz. He also threatened by phone to "ruin us" by putting a lien on our home, causing us to foreclose and lose our home. He has now sent us a certified letter on 5/20/19 that shows he has placed a lien on our home in the amount of $***. However, he has not only not completed the project, but this amount is greater than what would be owed were he to complete the project. This lien is fraudulent as we do not owe him that amount and he has not completed the project, and given the offsets and deduction for work not done and damage to us, My Construction actually owes us money.
We have asked him to remove the fraudulent lien and he refuses. He sent us a text message on 5/23 saying that he would remove the lien only if we remove our "damaging reviews." This is clear acknowledgement that he only filed the lien to intimidate us into taking down our honest reviews, not because he has a valid claim for unpaid work he clearly does not.
*** claims that we have not paid, but he is not being honest. We have paid him a sum of $*** to date. We have copies of every single cashed payment. In these, we can show that we have paid him in full for work that is still not completed, including electrical (installation of recessed lighting). The pictures he has provided only show a small portion of the work, and include work that he did not do. The flooring and baseboards seen in the basement picture were installed by Precision Flooring, Inc. He has not shown the pictures that the city inspector took of the unsafe electrical wiring, or the damage caused to the ceiling done by his electrician, or the reports his own electrician made that My Construction Company's electrical work was done in an unsafe manner, or the exterior stairs that were rebuilt without a permit and not up to code.
*** also makes reference to a city inspection conducted by the supervisor city inspector on 5/15/19. This inspection is the most recent with the City of San Jose and valid, and the supervisory City of San Jose inspector (***) has spoken with me to let me know he's informed *** that it is valid and those corrections on electrical, mechanical and building must be made. He for some reason claims his inspection has passed, but he knows and has been told time and again, including by the supervisor city inspector himself that the work he did has not passed *** mechanical, or building code requirements.
We sent *** a detailed letter by email on 5/28 indicating all items that remain in our contract, as well as offsets and deductions owed due to his failure or unwillingness to complete items on the contract, as well as damage he has caused. This communication was in furtherance of our complaint to the California State Licensing Board (CSLB). He has refused to acknowledge or respond to this letter. We notified him by text message that same day that we were sending that letter to his official business email: ***. In addition to the items remaining, it included a summary of offsets and deductions required to our contract to prove that we do not owe him any money, and that he, in fact, owes payments to us:
Total contract price, including change orders: $***.
Total amounts paid by us to My Construction Company: $***.
Difference of these two amounts: $***
Assuming My Construction Group completes ALL work required in our contract, credits and offsets to contract are:
$145 for electrical inspection on switch that your subcontractors left unsafe
$400 credit you offered for *** wiring living room lights wrong
$*** deduction for not installing floor and asking us to find another contractor to do so
$*** to reimburse us for concrete demo required because of damage you caused
$*** to reimburse us for subfloor repair
$*** to reimburse us for shower door and installation that was in contract and you refused to install
$100 for bathroom mirror that was included in contract and you failed to provide
TOTAL: $***
Therefore, if you complete items 1-11 above, at the end of the project, you will owe us $798.03
My Construction Company may also choose to deduct these items below if you prefer to not install as per the contract:
$*** French Door
$750 for Wemo switches
$140.16 (for*** units 1 & 2, retail plus tax)
TOTAL: $***
If you choose to deduct these items and amounts as well, at the end of the project, you will owe us $***.
and *** need to pay the due invoices it's very simple . Cslb complaint is under review and we all have chance to give our input. Final inspection pass ( see attach) this blackmail system that *** and *** trying to do it's not the way. If they first pay then complain I will really understand And will do all in my power to help solve any issue . As I done with hundred of my customer see review in all social media.. But not to pay on service they got pass final inspection see card and complain on service they didn't pay its like steal product then complaint the product is damage. Final inspection it's mean work is done and complete. After final inspection pass *** and *** order another inspection without notify me . If *** and *** want to do that right at least let me be in the inspection .
Lien was post due to non payment of due invoices and work that done.
This blackmail system that *** and *** doing by post in all social network lies and complaint in cslb just to avoid paying I think it's not legal . I have minor things to complete I can do that more then happy and get paid as all person that work need to get paid. I have no need for this argument I text to *** and *** that I can finish minor things that left and we all move on in our life *** still didn't reply . But still saying I didn't finish the work. I will attach my last text message saying when my guy can finish the work still waiting for her reply. Reg license*** show her his license my guys are my employee again I don't know why she still saying that. Any way miss *** and *** I am here to help if you want .
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
*** has been paid for more than what is owed, and despite that, he still abandoned the project and left us, his clients, to hire new contractors to complete all that is left. *** is also purposefully ignoring the most recent inspection report, which he is aware of and has been given a copy. I will attach it for Revdex.com to review as well. This official City of San Jose inspection report on 5/15/19 notes incomplete work and corrections needed for electrical and mechanical, as well as My Construction Company's failure to obtain a building permit for work by a worker (not an employee and not licensed) to fully replace exterior stairs.
Despite using unlicensed subcontractors and knowing he did not complete the work, and the current permit clearly showing he has not completed the work, *** has put a lien against our property in an amount greater than what would be owed had he completed the project as required in the contract. This is explained in detail in our previous response.
He has used this lien in an attempt to blackmail us. He has told us in person and over text (see attached texts) that he will only remove his invalid lien if we remove our factual reviews from Yelp, Angie's List, and Houzz. We have already notified Angie's list of his threats and provided them the evidence as threatening customers over negative reviews is against their policy.
*** has refused to provide evidence that his workers are licensed because they are not. For example, the worker that did tile work in our bathroom, ***, assured me that he is not ***'s employee and he works for himself. He does not carry his own contractor's license which means that the work was done by an unlicensed subcontractor, in direct violation of ***'s CSLB licensing as well as our contract, which clearly specified that work may only be subcontracted out to properly licensed and qualified subcontractors. This is only one example, but many other portions of his work on our home has been performed by unlicensed and unqualified subs, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
*** did not contact us to finish the work. He abandoned the work and refused to respond to us (after he had told us to find a new contractor and that he would put a lien on our home, ruin us, and sue us for slander). Only after we filed complaints with both Revdex.com and CSLB did *** break his silence. We provided him a list of specific items as to complete as per the contract, but he refused to look at it or respond to us.
My Construction Group remodeled our main and master bathrooms. I would highly recommend this company. They are professionals from start to finish! Our bathrooms were completed in a timely manner with great focus on details. They look beautiful!
Abraham came in to rechalk on tub surround they did very nice job . Every step of the job was done professional and timely. Way to go My Construction Group keep up the good work. Will differently recommend them to family and friends. Thanks Abraham.
We were referred to My Construction Group by my friend. We worked with Abraham and he was great!! We just purchased our second home and wanted to remodel our kitchen. We had an image and expectation in our head of what we wanted things to look like. Abraham by far meet our expectations with the looks, pricing quality in product and timing. Abraham came out and got all of our measurements within a few days. They came out within a week and assembled and put in all the cabinets perfectly. We got the White Shaker Cabinets with beautiful Quartz counter tops. We also got granite and replaced all of our bathroom counter tops. Our kitchen and bathrooms look more amazing than what we imagined. We would definitely refer them to all our friends and family and would use them again if we want another remodel.
