PLEASE BE CAREFUL:Deceptive Sales Practices, Malicious Owner, Threatening Messages, Damaged Property. The Buying Experience from Hell. Fake Reviews?
Dear Murdock Stones ETC & Owner Briand M.,
My little family went to Murdock Stones ETC to purchase stones for a home project. After finding them in the paper they claim they are the 5 star top rated "landscape" supply company in Southwest Florida. As any customer should I read the reviews online and appeared to be a good business.
I soon after purchased over $1000 in rocks for my home. The sales team encouraged me to look over the website for re-assurance that what I would be getting would be whats shown online. Walking into the store they displayed freshly cleaned rocks without any filler for the public to see when they walk in the store.
-Deceptive Sales Practices
I paid for multiple delivery fees even after the newspaper ad said $30 for a delivery. Seemed a bit misleading but I tried to be understanding since it was going to be a large order. Prior to getting my product I was confident what I read online to be true.
To my surprise I was given a blend of stones and clay / dirt. I was not informed they would be giving me $1000+ worth of mud. Also they sell pavers that are charcoal colors that arrived weathered, yellow and did not look anything like what they advertised online. Also, they sent me two sizes of River Rock when I paid for one.
-Malicious Owner
I was not happy with my experience so I called the office. The owner answered and I told him of my issues. He said I signed a waiver and they would have the owner call me. Well the person I spoke to was the owner. He called and after a few days he sent me a threatening text message that he was going to put a lien on my home. I told the owner he can pick up the rocks himself since I didnt want to continue my business with his company. He proceeded to continue threatening my family. I have made attempts to contact him but he doesnt respond right away and leaves alot of sarastic remarks. Its obvious this company makes revenue off blackmailing there customers taking away there rights as a consumer.
-Damaged Property
The day of my delivery, an older gentleman came to my home to deliver the rocks. The truck used was large and I trusted them to drive as any responsible person would on someone elses property. To my surprise the driver backed in on the edge of my driveway damaging my property. I am a full time caregiver to my wife who was in a serious car accident and now I am not able to use half of my driveway and have the worries of her falling. I will be attaching photos of the damage. The owner had me sign a waiver basically giving them the right to ruin my lifelong home. Employee negligence is a huge problem with this company.
-Fake Reviews?
It seems this person pays for peoples endorsements as a means of gaining trust from customers. Its false. They are a full fledged scam. They do not care about the customer. They care about the bottom line.
Conclusion, this company took away my basic rights as a consumer to pay for what is advertised. They will go at any lengths to threaten you as a consumer and make you feel powerless. I am sorry Brian M. but you are not a 5 star business. You are a heartless business owner who is not in touch with there community.
I am requesting the owner Brian M. make this right. I have sent you an email asking for a time to call and you have not told me when your free.
Customer is trying to get us to pay for driveway damage that has existed since at least 2011 per Google Maps please see attached photos...
If you look at the picture he posted on Yelp, you can tell that the crack in the driveway has been there a long time...
Also, here is email conversation I had with him outlining when I tried contacting him multiple times (he never did call me back...)

I will be calling you later today. Before calling I will send you photos showing how the items sent do not match what was delivered. Safety is always the number one priority.
I'm hoping we can come to a resolution. In the meantime can you please send a copy of the contact that I signed so I can review it with my lawyer.

Hi ***,
When you first called me a week after everything was delivered, you didn't mention at all that the material wasn't "as advertised". All you mentioned was damage to the driveway. I would think that if the colors didn't match you would be calling me while my driver was still there or the day after...it's now been about 4 weeks and this is the first I'm hearing about it...
I did try calling you back (on XXX-XXX-XXXX) the day after you contacted me about the driveway. Your voicemail box was full. I honestly did not think about calling you again because once I pointed out to you during the first phone call that you signed a slip saying that we weren't responsible for damages, you became much less adamant. I figured that you would see my missed call (especially if you were expecting a call from me) and call me back if it was that important to you.
Then on Thursday 11/7/19, I start getting credit card dispute notifications....(without warning). I called you on Thursday afternoon (on XXX-XXX-XXXX) and left you a message asking you to call me back. I received no call back. I called your alternate number (XXX-XXX-XXXX) on Saturday and that voicemail box was full. With no other way to call you (I didn't have your email address at that point) I decided to text you this morning (trust me, not my preferred method of contacting someone).
GM, Murdock Stones Etc.
XXX-XXX-XXXX
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This company DELIVERED THE WRONG ITEM. I have uploaded photos of what I paid for and what they sent. The Owner of Murdock says the house had previous damage but failed to disregard the new cracks they created.
Again I will send photos of what I paid for and what they sent. This scam artist wrote they tried to attempt me on 12-20 totally false. This company also isn't registered as Murdock Stones because there is a lot of customers who are filing complaints.
I have already filed with the inspector general. To reiterate I was sent the wrong product and they made me pay for it.
They damaged my driveway and there claims are not relevant. Please keep my review here so the public is a Aware of this business.
