Contracted to paint my home. He required advanced payment of $9,000 for a $19,075 job. Walked away with money after initial preparation and repairs.Contracted owner [redacted] to paint my home in oreparation to put it on the market, we now live in Pittsburgh. He required advanced payment of $9,000 for a $19,075 job. Our initial agreement included $2000 to paint the barn. When I said to him I no longer wanted the barn painted (where he had not yet initiated any work), he then demanded payment for all the remaining work $8,025 (minus $2000 for the barn). When I proposed to have the remaining balance in an escrow account until the project was completed and checked by our representative (a real state broker), he walked away with the $9000. He had only completed initial preparation and repairs. He did not paint the inside or outside of the house or the deck which is what we contracted him for. We had made plans to travel on the weekend to check what he had done. He left before the weekend without accounting for or showing his work and took our initial installment. His workers spent the day fishing in our pond as witnessed by our neighbour.Desired SettlementI would like for him to complete the job and then get paid the remaining balance after we are able to have our broker representative check that it is completed to our satisfaction. Besides taking our initial deposit, we are losing money by having to rearange our travel plans and by the delays caused by getting another contractor on the job, which is very valuable time since we need to promptly put our house on the market.More Info Received From The ConsumerHi I have been able to resolve the complaint with this independent contractor who chosed to return and complete the work once he was informed about the Revdex.com complaint. Therefore, I would like to drop the complaint.Thank you very much for your help
