Called car center for appointment to change my transmission fluid along with transmission filter. I also requested the change of fluid for the transfer case as I have a 4X4 truck (2002 *** 1500 HD 4X4). I requested synthetic fluid for the truck (the truck takes *** ATF), as I already had a synthetic flush done a couple of years ago and I told (Frank) I do a lot of towing (I have a camper and synthetic is better due to heat), he also pushed *** (not sure for which transmission part. (Frank) told me it would cost around $360 and could go over $400 and I asked him if they provide a military discount, he said he would work with me.(I agreed to the service appointment). I came in the night before my turn in for the service and talked with (Frank). He wanted me to use *** for the transfer case (really pushed this), He then obtained a bottle of *** fluid (I have *** for the transfer case. This was a cost of $13.24 a Qt. and the *** was a couple of dollars more a Qt. I said we probably should keep the fluid OEM (pertaining to the transfer case). I also asked to have the front and rear differential fluid checked.I came in the afternoon after receiving a message it was done and learned from (Frank) he had used a generic *** (not synthetic compatible fluid I requested on the phone. He said, I said to use OEM. I said this only for the transfer case. The cost was 301.46. I believe this was done out of spite for not agreeing to the *** on the transfer case. They had flushed out all the synthetic I had in the truck replacing it with a generic ***! I was not happy and told him I already know that there are synthetic compatible *** fluids.I did say it was BS for what he did, as this is pretty underhanded.I also observed there was absolutely no military discount as part of the phone conversation, luckily I had a coupon for $10 off.
I have talked to Frank, Nevin, and Jason, all of who were, involved with or was present at the time *** was expressing what he wanted. In review, what was put in the transmission was OEM approved fluid as stated on the containers. It is equivalent to what was put in new in 2002. I checked in *** and Alldata as to what fluids are recommended. In 2002 *** was the approved fluid which was put in. I also found in my research, in 2007 *** TSB bulletins recommended as to what the new recommendation for this vehicle is. *** recommends ***, which is full synthetic, as the replacement fluid for *** when the transmission undergoes major internal repairs or complete flush. We offer that in three different brand names. They are ***, *** and ***. *** can be used with ***In resolving this issue *** is what *** recommends in this situation, and we would be willing to do the recommendation by ***.Paul M JrVP/Operations Manager
